Thé Lau: "Afgelopen zomer hebben drie ex-Scene leden met mij meegespeeld, zij het op verschillende festivals. Otto ging als vanouds geweldig tekeer, Emilie produceerde haar karakteristieke pulserende basgeluid en Jeroen klonk alsof hij bij U2 inviel, ronkend, zwaar. Later vroeg Jeroen me of ik wilde overwegen nog een keer met The Scene te toeren. Hij had een 'onaf gevoel'. Dat, en het feit dat spelen met alledrie een kick was, deden me besluiten Jeroen te bellen. OK, laten we de koppen bij elkaar steken om te kijken wat iedereen ervan vindt. Het enthousiasme bleek groot. Niet alleen bij Jeroen, Emilie en Otto, maar ook bij vrienden die we ons plan toevertrouwden. Nadere inspectie van keerzijden leerden ons dat die er niet waren. Spelen van oud en vertrouwd repertoire? Absoluut! Er is niets mis met 'Blauw', 'Open', 'Rigoureus', 'Zuster', 'Samen', 'Iedereen Is Van De Wereld'. Welke optredens zullen we doen? Festivals! En een paar geliefde zalen, Paradiso, de AB. Zullen we een CD opnemen? Ja! Dezelfde songs. Misschien met gasten... Misschien nieuwe nummers... Dat soort zaken. Inmiddels weten we dat het enthousiasme overal groot is. En dat we een juist besluit hebben genomen. OK, we doen het!"
De nieuwe CD van The Scene, eenvoudig maar veelzeggend '2007' getiteld, komt uit op 21 mei. Op het album staan in totaal twaalf tracks. Tien klassiekers van de band hebben een nieuw jasje gekregen. 'Open', 'Zuster' en 'Samen' klinken nu eindelijk zoals ze live ook al klonken in de hoogtijdagen van The Scene; stuwender, scherper en opzwepender! Op drie tracks doen gasten mee. Sarah Bettens (K's Choice) schittert in 'Blauw', het geweldige stemgeluid van Paskal Jakobsen (BLØF) versterkt de meezinger 'Iedereen Is Van De Wereld' en Tom Barman (dEUS) betovert de luisteraar op het prachtige 'Rigoureus'! Daarnaast twee nieuwe nummers: 'Meisje Van De Dromen' en 'Alkmaar', een stad die nog nooit zo mooi is bezongen en waarvan de tekst werd geschreven door Neeltje Maria Min.
