About me:
HEYWIRE is a chance for young people from Rural and Regional Australia to tell their story. Sure, you might not have mobile phone service, and yes we can't see your face under that big akubra and through the blowflies. If you do a really good job, we’ll cut the akubra line next time, ok? We do this by letting young people from rural and regional Australia take over the ABC and broadcast their stories on ABC Radio: Local Radio, Triple J, Radio National, Radio Australia and ABC Online and by giving young people the opportunity to participate in our yearly forum in Canberra: a chance for the Heywire winners from around Australia to come together and discuss the issues facing young peopleWho I'd like to meet:

Cessnock Performing Arts Centre - Vincent St Cessnock
The band showcase is an opportunity to perform in front of a panel of music industry professionals and recieve invaluable feedback on their performance. Free recording and an opportunity to appear on thr Nock Rock 2010 CD is also up for grabs. Positions are limited so bands need to register to perform at the Band Showcase. Bands must also have a majority of members aged under 25 years and all must be over 12 years. At least one band member must reside in the Cessnock LGA.

We are way excited to annouce our 2008 Young Muso's Retreat. If you are a young muso living in the Cessnock LGA then this is the experience for you.
5 Days in tranquil Stroud - the perfect place to get the creative musical juices flowing.
Workshops with industry professionals - looking at Cubase, song writing, presentation and so much more.
Not to mention you get to go away with a group of other young people who are all interested in music with plenty of time to jam and get creative.
The even better news - it's free! Transport, Food and accomodation is included.
Only catch - there's limited places so you do need to fill out an expression of interest form. For more info msg us - if you want an EOI pack sent out include either your email or snail mail address.
