Hailing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Stephen LaGrosse and friends, announce their new creation: $200 Hairkut. Steve is well known in the Tuscaloosa area for his work in such indie-bands such as Friends of the Fallen ("4 Da Troopz" produced by Grammy Nominee, Steve Albini) and Welcome Matt (Truth B Told Records). He also plays in an acoustic duo with Mike Porgis, called simply, LaGrosse and Porgis . All three of his groups have been local favorites, playing numerous times at local and regional festivals, such as City Fest, The Florence Peanut Festival and The Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo. The duo, LaGrosse and Porgis, played City Stages in 2004 and also played Boutwell auditorium that same year, warming up for legendary alternative act Buffalo Tom. In January 2005, Stephen and some of his friends decided to put together a new group. The new band, $200 Hairkut, is best described as Hard-Alternative meets Hard-Rock.. Their influence is brought together from a wide variety of genres, but their original songs are have been described as both Hard-Rock and "Christian Hard Rock." However, you will often find traces of alt-rock, grunge and even rap in their work. And, since Stephen was the only songwriter in Friends of the Fallen (and owns exclusive rights), $200HK has to chosen to cover a number of songs on "4 Da Troopz". $200 Hairkut is quickly becoming well-known for their innovative original work, excellent choice of cover songs and impressive collection of PRS guitars. Since $200 Hairkut uses both acoustic and electric instruments interchangeably, the venue itself can decide somewhat on the band's volume and style in advance. The band members are as follows: Stephen LaGrosse on lead vocals and electric and acoustic rhythm guitar. (He is the band's songwriter). Next, we have new comer to the Tuscaloosa scene, Greg Rapier on bass. Rapey began his music career in Mississippi where he was known as the local coffee house favorite. Next is drummer, Eric Greeleey. Eric is from a musical family (Astor) and plays a wide variety of instruments. Last but not least is another veteran of the Tuscaloosa music scene, James Tooflis. James (Jim) is widely known in the Tuscaloosa area for his excellent skills on both guitar and bass in bands such as Flex Nasty and Tit Ripper. Rapey and Jim also sing back-up vocals. This group is out of the turnstiles and ready to go! For booking information contact Stephen at 205-342-2473 or 200buckhairkut@gmail.com.

I recently enjoyed a Memorial Day weekend 2,100 mile solo road trip on my motorcycle. I covered a lot of ground and saw many beautiful breath-taking sights: Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Crater Lake, & 350miles of Oregon Hwy 101 Pacific Ocean Shoreline. (And many destinations in between)

On my journey I also found the solace to peacefully commune in my spirit with my Maker. You might say I experienced an epiphany. This was the message I received- a recipe for personal peace:

1.) Each day make things right in every way to the best of your ability. Next day: repeat again.

2.) Start each day anew with a fresh start leaving the past behind. Next day: repeat again.

3.) Never allow the past to drag you down with guilt and defeat- it’s over and a done deal. It is now a brand new day. Next day: repeat again.

4.) One day at a time make the best of that single day- lived to the fullest. Next day: repeat again.

5.) Live the day as if it is your first and your last- imagining that it could be. Next day: repeat again.

6.) Do the best with what you have now for that day. You are never expected more than what you are asked or can do for that one day. Next day: repeat again.

7.) Do what you feel is right for that day to the best of your knowledge and ability. If you have no direction as to what that might be, the day is yours to make of it what you will- and have fun doing it! Next day: repeat again.

Altar Ego was forged from the battlefields of spiritual warfare. Making a stand for what they believe in, and spreading God's message the best way they know how; through their music. Just like 200 dollar hairkut!
