Throughout years of basement shows, broken down van tours, and sleeping on luxurious floors cushioned with dog hair, thoughts of starting a record label occasionally entered the heads of the responsible parties. Until early this century, good sense and fiscal foresight prevented such thoughts from coming to fruition.
"2024...what does that stand for?" Well, several friends occupied a certain dwelling with an address of 2024 in Uptown Minneapolis for a few years. To memorialize those unexplainable times, and mostly because no one could think of anything better at 3 a.m. the day the first album's artwork was due, a quorum of nods created 2024 Records.
Whatever the connotation, the guiding premise from the start was not unlike that of many other independent labels. To treat artists fairly and make their music available to as many people as possible.
