Your short stories and plays are brilliant mirrors on human nature. I hope some theatre company or producer has the foresight enough to put on a few of your plays. Good luck with the debut novel too, I am sure editors will start a bidding war.

Badges

Mark C. Frankel hasn't earned any badges yet... have you?

Interests

  • General

Steelers, Penguins, Art (Van Gogh and many of the Post Impressionist being favorites), Drama (the stage kind, I can do without the real thing in my life) and trying to be crowned King. I just threw that last one in to see if you were paying attention. You are paying attention, right? Hehe.
  • Music

Punk, Metal, Rap/Hip-Hop, Rock and even Country. You can't beat Sirius for variety and it make my commute soooooo much easier.
  • Movies

  • Television

Law and Order, Without a Trace, Last Comic Standing and the Simpsons. I catch Monday night Raw whenever I can and my cousins just started to get me into UFC. Watching TV, however, is time consuming and not a luxury I have as often as I would like.
  • Books

Robert Jordan, George R.R. Martin, Hemingway, Styron, Steven Brust to name a few authors I enjoy. There are many, many more and my shelves are overflowing with books I have read. Again, like the TV thing, I just don't have the time I would like to read.
  • Heroes

Real ones: Mom and Dad. I know, its cheesy, but name two people that have helped define you more. Go ahead, I dare you.

Ficticious ones: Hey, I'm pretty sure I'm Superman. At least I look good in the blue shirt with the "S" on it.

Blurbs

About me:

I hate categorizing myself. What an impossible task to really do correctly. Let's face it, we see ourselves differently than everyone else does and for everyone perception is reality. That said, most of us view ourselves differently depending on what is going on around us at the time anyway.

So how do I bother to define myself in the limited blurbs MySpace has set up? Well, I guess if we are defined by what we do, I'm a Writer and then a Recruiter. I write short stories, plays (stage more than screen), and even some children's books. So far, I've had a few short stories published, which I suppose is a start.

I'll post a some stories here so that they can be read by anyone who might be interested. The first one was published in The Armchair Aesthete and the name of the story was Aegis. It is a unique view of a popular tale we all probably know pretty well. AA is a paper only publication, so I cannot set up a link for easy viewing. Sorry.

My second tale was published by Inscribed.org. They are an online magazine, so I can post a link there, making it easier for all to read. The story is called Unrepentant Nascence and it is a macabre tale of a young boy navigating adolescence. Unlike most youths, however, Dwayne spends the majority of his time alone, wandering a closed and rotting prison.

My most recent publication can be seen at Morpheus Tales. They are a brand new magazine. You can see a teaser here:

7/29/08 Update: I'll be writing a weekly column for a new site, www.latehitz.com. I'll probably have a mix of things, among them music, Pittsburgh sports, and whatever else my little heart desires. Just go check it out and read it, ok?

On the second count of what I do, I recruit for a major Entertainment company (wouldn't you like to know which one?) that for the sake of some privacy will remain nameless. I will say this, it is a very cool place to work and we have an awesome, loyal fan base.

That's enough here for now, I suppose. We'll see if I get ambitious and decide to ad more later.

You are 100% Pittsburgh.

Great job! There's nooooo doubt about it. You're from Da Burgh. You deserve a reward, so go have an Ahrn City or two. And GO STILLERS!
