I like a good book, my back deck and a beer, surfing - I grew up surfing, a great curry, cricket with my son Mattie, music, cherry ripes, chatting with people in my electorate..on the street, or at local pubs, fetes and other community events, I like to get out and support the local Brisbane music scene...mainly because my kids are into it - but also cause I've always been a big fan of home grown Aussie rock n' roll!!!

About me:
Hello, I’m Wayne Swan, Treasurer of Australia in the Rudd Labor Government. Thanks for visiting my MySpace and taking the time to get to know me better! Here you can find some information about me, and what I've been up to!ABOUT WAYNE SWAN
Wayne Swan, Treasurer of Australia, is passionately concerned about where Australia will be in ten year’s time.
The 53 year old Queenslander, educated at Nambour High School (the same school attended by Kevin Rudd), believes eleven years of neglect and complacency have failed to make the most of the opportunities Australia has had. Australia now has a treasurer who is setting our country up for the future.
While the mining boom and strongest global economic growth in thirty years has propelled the Australian economy along, too many working Australians are struggling to get ahead.
Wayne’s vision of a prosperous and fair Australia goes back a long way. Growing up on the Sunshine Coast he was both surfer and scholar. He won a scholarship to university, studied economics and arts and was awarded an honours degree in government.
He went on to lecture in government, worked with Special Minister of State Mick Young and former Queensland premier Wayne Goss. He was state secretary of the Queensland branch of the ALP before being elected to Federal Parliament in 1993.
The Treasurer is universally recognised as a workaholic, who has as good a knowledge of the issues debated around the kitchen table as the boardroom table. When asked how Labor would win government, he famously replied: ‘we’ve just got to get up earlier in the morning than the Government and go to bed later.’
For the last three years he’s done just that, travelling the country to reinforce Labor’s economic credentials and its commitment to take Australia forward with prosperity and fairness.
In practical terms Wayne has championed the need for a world class education system and a tax system that rewards, not punishes, hard work and enterprise.
In what’s become a Swan mantra, Wayne says it’s time Australians got fairness and honesty from their leader. Following the November 2007 election, Kevin 07 became the Prime Minister of Australia. Wayne became Treasurer. There's not much time for surfing anymore, but you can be assured he's got a sturdy board and lots of sunscreen when you catch Wayne battling the heat of the Parliamentary debate, and the rising wave of inflation!! Wayne spends his time preparing our economy for the challenges ahead and working for a fairer Australia for all working families.

Can your Government please recognise Macedonia as the "Republic of Macedonia".
Kind Regards,

Hey Wayne,
Sorry I haven't commented you for a while, congratulations on winning your seat and for Labor winning parliament!
It's not really something that you need to worry about, but my mother is moving to Sudan for 2 years because she is unable to get a job in Victoria because she is a qualified primary school teacher. She has applied for stacks of jobs, has been teaching for over 35 years and has given up all other hope for a job in Australia.
Turns out, to hire her, would be equal to hiring two first year graduate teachers. I have to admit, it saddens me that our country can't afford to teach primary school children effectively with distinguished teachers because of the rate of funding that schools receive.
I know you're doing a great job and are working for the long term achievements for the country. For that I congratulate you. It's admirable in my eyes.
happy birthday for yesterday mr swan :)
you're doing our country proud.
G'day mate,
Thanks for the add! All the very best with the economy and all, not that we ever need to worry. Nice job with the budget, by the way! No doubt we'll be looking forward to many successful ones in the future.
Yours in friendship,
Patrick.
Thanks for the add!
G'day Swannie
