Black Light Art Party @ The Calcasieu Gallery, July 4th The Calcasieu Gallery, a newly opened art space located on Broadway in Downtown San Antonio will have its grand opening art extravaganza July 4th, 2009. The Calcasieu Gallery will hold the exhibit in time for the holiday weekend and will commemorate Contemporary Art Month in San Antonio. The Calcasieu Apartments, under new management, will open the space beneath the apartments for this one night spectacular. New work from artists Ernest Vidal, Gil Casares & Michael Casares will be on display. The event will be a black light exhibit and the third year for the Black Light Art Party, a moniker birthed at the late, great Ruta Maya Riverwalk. This year’s exhibit will follow themes of the Fourth of July holiday as well experimental, abstract, 3-D & contemporary art. Live music by local bands The Musikbox, Sachsen Apocalypse & more! The event begins at 7 PM & is free. (byob). DJ FELL spins! The lights go on when the sun goes down! Be there!

Hey kids, we're back this year with another action packed reunion. Many of you don't know that we've been hosting reunion parties since 2007. We had our first one @ Atomix nighclub and it was a blast. The problem was we had to share the club with all the young kids. They loved it and received a real education in the "real" 80s music. This year the reunion is 13 June @ The Revolution Room. I'm bringing vinyl I used to spin @ Phazez along with Steve Alejandro(Phazez 86-89), Raleigh, and Curse Mackey. It promises to be a night of memories and the overall purposes is to re-connect old friends and pay homage to Jesse, Peter, and some of the maverick club owners who made cutting edge music clubs a reality. The Rev Room managers have graciously given us the exclusivity to the basement; which has a great sound system and full service bar. We are developing e-flyers within the next few days. I'll get them out as soon as I recieve them. So dig out your oversize sports coat, Doc Martins, and Depeche Mode t-shirts; WE GOING DANCING!!!
