About me:

Stephanie entered the Mrs. United States 2007 Pageant without any expectations. She considers herself extremely fortunate to have represented the 54 elegant women who competed in the event. She is a wife and mother of two sons, Jordan and Donnie and two stepsons, Andy and Adam. Stephanie’s husband of ten years, Donald is an attorney. Stephanie graduated from Western Michigan University. While at WMU she was President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and an outstanding Thespian member of Theta Alpha Phi. Stephanie is a devoted Flight Attendant for Northwest Airlines Inc. and has served on flights for the Presidential Press Staff, the National Basketball Association, Major league Baseball, and the Detroit Lions. She is a member of Airlines Ambassadors, an organization recognized by the U.S. Congress for its humanitarian efforts.

As Mrs. United States 2007 she believes in a quote by Helen Keller: “I find life an exciting business and most exciting when it is lived for others.” This quote is embodied in Stephanie’s true passion as a spokesperson for the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD®) and as an Executive Committee member for the Rubinstein-Taybi Family Research Fund. After winning Mrs. United States, Stephanie was recognized for her efforts with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome (RTS) on the floor of congress by proclamation from the Honorable John Dingell (D-MI). Her four year old son, Donnie is afflicted with (RTS), a rare genetic disorder which is characterized by developmental delays and physical abnormalities. “A rare disorder isn’t rare when it affects someone you love.” It is believed that RTS has been diagnosed in fewer than then one thousand people worldwide. Unfortunately, as with many rare diseases, RTS is not well researched.

Who I'd like to meet:

There are so many people I'd like to meet! Nelson Mandela is sure at the top of the list.

“We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. All of us. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

--Nelson Mandela ‘94
