  • Bio

....This profile was edited with ..MySpace Profile Editor......MySpace....Profile Editor.... Schleprock was formed in late 1988 in Alhambra California, 10 miles outside of Downtown Los Angeles. The bands founding members included Anthony “Chubby” Telles on Bass, Big John Kuresa on Guitar, Doug Kane on Vocals, and Aaron Spierski on the Drums. Spierski left Schleprock after a few shows to join the Garage Rock band The Miracle Workers. The drumming duties were turned over to Sard Overton, who brought along with him guitarist Jeff Graham to make the 4 piece into powerhouse five piece. With in six months Schleprock became banned from numerous Punk clubs in L.A. due their rowdy following. It seemed every time Schleprock played a show the venue was left trashed to pieces and the police were called in to chase out their unruly crowd. By 1990 the band landed their first small record deal with Nemesis Records. That deal delivered the first 7” E.P. “Do It All”, which was produced by Brett Gurewitz from Bad Religion. Nemesis Records was also the home for So. Cal Punk legends The Offspring. In 1991 the drumming position was turned over to Dirty Ernie Berru, and the band started to set out across the highways of America. By 1992 Schleprock had found their way out of the suburbs of Los Angeles, and were now being asked to share the stages with bigger Punk Rock acts, such as Primus, L-7, Bad Religion, NO FX, and they were even asked to support Green Day up the West Coast of the United States, and Canada. That same year also brought another 7” E.P. “Looking Back” on Seattle’s Empty Records. By the middle of 1993 Schleprock kicked out their first full length album “Hide & Seek, along with two more 7” E.P.S “Ten Speed” & “Migraine.” The band finished the year with numerous tours across the United States, but by the end of 1993 founding members Kuresa, and Telles decided they would call it quits. This change would bring in two new members, Guitarist Sean Romin, and Bassist Dean Wilson. Over the next two years the band would team up with the Infamous Dr. Strange Records. They signed another record deal and joined up with label mates Face To Face, and The Voo Doo Glow Skulls. Schleprock would bring their own brand of Southern California Melodic Punk Rock to the forefront of American Music. In 1994 Schleprock released the full-length album “Propeller”. This new record brought them some modest success with over 30,000 records sold with in the first year. They were constantly zig zagging across the United States, and even crossed over to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand to support the new record. 1995 became the turning point for Schleprock with the release of the “Out Of Spite” 5 song 12” E.P. Schleprock managed to turn the corner, and now became a headlining act across America. All the major record labels were in the hunt for the next big thing, and Schleprock became one of the hunted. In February of 1996 Schleprock signed a record deal with Warner Brothers Records. This deal brought to life “Americas Dirty Little Secret”. Dirty Little Secret catapulted the band to new heights, and Schleprock was now playing in front of thousands of new fans. The single “Suburbia was charting across American national radio, and MTV placed the “Suburbia” video on a daily rotation. The new record musically brought the band back to their old school Punk roots. In the summer of 1996 Schleprock set out on a U.S., and Canadian tour with U.K. Ska legends The Specials. When 1997 rolled around the band was attempting to keep up with the Warner Brothers corporate machine. Sean Romin was replaced with guitarist Mike Snow, but the band was struggling to keep their momentum. By March of 97 the internal conflicts, and drug addictions brought the band to a halt. After it was all said and done Schleprock sold over 100,000 records, and crossed over three continents, In April 2003, sadly guitarist Jeff Graham passed away from a drug over dose. It was just months earlier that the band had finally reconciled their differences, and were attempting to do a few re union shows. Grahams death stunned the band, and once again the project was put to rest. Two years later, on September 3rd 2005 Schleprock finally managed to re-unite to headline a concert celebrating “25 years of Punk Rock in the San Gabriel Valley”. ..http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1138309621?bctid=483009219
