Here is an example of the Extreme style of Muay Thai
Heroes
My heroes were "Bruce Lee" as a youngster. My current hero is Mr. Tom Saviano for giving me inspiration and providing me with honest feedback on my style.
About me: A little about myself? I have a mixed heritage as so many of us have. Mine is a Greek Father and an Irish, English Jamaican Mother. I am all of those things rolled into one. Most people will see the Greek in me before anything else, and I guess speaking the language encourages that.
My passion is in Martial Arts. I've been involved in Martial Arts since I was 11 years old. I am now proud to admit I am a 3rd degree black belt in the style of 'Tae Kwon Do' and am currently pursuing another black belt in the Kenpo style.
I love mixed martial arts and am currently training to be ready to fight in January 2009. My Kenpo Master is Mr. Tom Saviano who teaches at the White Tiger Dojo in Addison Il. www.whitetigerkenpo.com My side class for strength and endurance is a style known as Muay Thai. It is a more intense style of fighting. The workout alone is grueling and not for the faint of heart. I personally saw a couple of my class mates give up, one even tossed his cookies. But I managed to hang in there to the end.
I feel that the discipline one receives in Martial Arts, is to know that you have the foresight to walk away from a fight, because you know you have the power. People are probably not aware that Martial Arts is a form of combat that can date back to the early Egyptians. It later traveled to Asia and became more artistic.
I feel honored to be able to study the various forms. My fellow classmates have named me 'Speedy' for my quickness and agility. I am by no means trying to show off, it's just a natural ability. To steal a quote from Tom Saviano:
(A true celebrity is known for an accomplishment that is unusual. A great entertainer, athlete or actor is considered to be a celebrity. The title cannot be given to oneself but must be awarded to them by their peers or followers...) I hope that I can live up to that mantra.
Aside from my love of combat, those who are close to me know that I am a very sensitive and giving kind of guy. I would give you my last dollar, if I thought you needed it. I hate to see our older generations doing without basic needs. I am also a practicing Christian and that faith helps to keep me grounded.
