Music
This is a video of the closing piece of the dance concert I did--Pulse 2007. It features us scholarship dancers. The piece is entitled "This Has Got to Die". Choreography is by Mike Esperanza. You'll probably want to pause the music playing on my page (if you haven't done so already) before starting the video.
Movies
Some faves are Sneakers, Clue, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Trick, Broken Hearts Club, Legally Blonde, Latter Days, Cinema Paradiso, Billy Elliot, Babette's Feast, The Cutting Edge, Stand By Me, Finding Nemo, Hedwig, Finding Neverland, The Devil Wears Prada. Million Dollar Baby was a great film. I guess I tend to stay away from films with lots of guns and stuff. It turns me off. I'd take a drama or comedy (romantic or otherwise) over that any day.
About me: I'll be performing in the musical "All Shook Up" (inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis)at Sierra Repertory Theatre in Sonora, CA from Oct. 24, 2008 through Dec. 20, 2008.
Here's the promotional video for Disney I got to be in. Check it out.
I used to work in the Entertainment Dept. at Disneyland, performing in Disney's Parade of Dreams. I was the Toy Bell Ringer/Toy Drummer in the Pinocchio Unit. I just finished an eight month dance scholarship at Jimmie DeFore's Dance Center which started last July. It has been an unforgettable experience. Part of me wishes I had auditioned for the next term to complete a full year at the studio. But, I think I'm ready to move on.
I love performing in musicals. When I'm not in rehearsal for one and I'm free I enjoy going to see musicals as well. I often go by myself to see shows. Some people say that's weird, but I don't. Don't get me wrong...I'm not opposed to seeing shows with other people. It's just that it's tough to coordinate schedules and stuff a lot of times. And I'd rather see the show than miss it completely, waiting for someone to go with me. I also enjoy watching a show more than once. I think it's interesting to see which performers change deliveries, which ones rely on the same precision at every performance, or how different people interpret the same roles.
I'm not a tranny, but I've done female roles in a couple shows: "Cloud 9"--the only play I've done, and "Smile"--a musical by Marvin Hammlisch. "Cloud 9" has a female role that's actually meant to be played by a male. But for "Smile," the director wanted to give the musical a fresh twist and cast a few males to play the parts of beauty pageant contestants alongside actual females. I enjoyed both shows a lot. I think I'd like to perform in "La Cage" some day. But for now, I'm keeping my wig in my wigbox, storing away my character heels, and putting away my false lashes.
Who I'd like to meet: Matthew Bourne, Twyla Tharp, Brad Pitt, Chad Michael Murray, Bernadette Peters. But really, anyone cool and nice. People who like to go see theatre/musicals. People who have an interesting sense of humor. People who can teach me ASL.
and the first lift is the one I was talking about...maybe without the splits because I anticipate floor burns. Actually, I did get a nasty floor burn from that and I still have a scar...
