About me:

I was born at the end of 1965, the year the Skatalites broke up . Born and raised in sunny California ,I'm a native but I lost my accent years ago . In Other word I can't say "Dude " anymore .In 71 ,I survived the Earthquake that all other Earthquakes are measured by . We were living in Northridge 5 minutes from Silmar the center of the quake. A couple years later , my parents broke up and we moved in with my grandparents in West L.A. Music was always playing in my home , my brother and I both took piano lessons . He was more talented than I was , he enjoyed it ,I hated to pratice . In 1977 a friend of the family took me to see Kiss my first concert . A few years later the Kiss and Disco faze of my life wore out . I had just started listening to New Wave and some punk .When my brother started bring home some reggae records , at first I didn't like it . But when I discovered the English Ska bands , I was blown away . I remember watching tv one afternoon and Bob Marley had Died , but I had no idea who he really was but I had become interested . My brother started playing me some bands that really caught my attention . The Wailing Souls , Black Uhuru and the Mighty Diamonds . We spent are Sundays listening to The Reggae Beat with Roger Steffen's and Hank Holmes and the more I listened the more I learned . My first to reggae albums I owned were True Democracy by Steel Pulse and Chill Out by Black Uhuru . I still own both of the albums and know them word per word . During most of the 80's ,I spent a lot of time going to shows and collecting reggae records and living in Anahiem ,Ca. At the begining of the 90's I started djing and going to Fullerton JC to study radio . I spent 10 years with Fly By Night Mobile djs . Around 92 I started playing reggae in some local clubs ,due to the big Dancehall movement and re-intrest America had taken to Reggae .The first time a friend of mine from Ja touched the Mic ,while I droped some dub tracks , I went crazy . I started playing all over the place . A few years later , I started a radio show on K.U.C.I. called Uptown Top Ranking . It was great , I interviewed a virtual who's who in reggae: Steel Pulse , Mikal Rose , Half Pint , Sugar Minnott ,The Congo's , JA-Man , Tony Kelly , Tanto Metro and Devonte ,Wayne Wonder ,Alton Ellis and many more . I spent 3 years on the radio , my show is still on the air but I'm not. I have played at many Big Reggae events in La and Orange county . One thing I had always wanted to do was be able to have a club with Dj's only playing reggae . This was something I was unable to do in the 90's because you had to have a band to draw a crowd . After a few ,not so sucessful times , we finnally got it right . I got a call from a friend to come dj at this club one night alongside a band . The night went well and my friend was taling about putting on a night with dj's only at this place called the Prosector . In 2003 we started a monthly called Crucial with Prince Rod-I and Sonic Dread . It has been 6 years now and Prince Rod-I has moved to the land of the Rising Sun and in 2004 Virgina Sim and Chicho from (Far East sound had joined the crew .In the last couple of years I have started working with the Jamacian Cultural Alience as their Dj . Since 1999 I have been working with UCI as a booking agent and Dj for their annual Reggae fest .
