  • Bio

Chilled jazzy vocals and plucky guitar" latest 7...."[Victoria Ferguson] makes Amy Winehouse and Billy Holliday sound like asthmatic children. Great, great stuff." - Patrick Whistler (The Independent)...."You guys (Victoria & Ben) rock!!" - Ace (Skunk Anansie)...."Lovely, Serge Gainsbourg meets Nina Simone..." - Astrid Williamson (Goya Dress)....My name is Victoria Ferguson. I am originally from Texas (USA) and am currently based around Eastbourne, Brighton and England's South Coast. I am a singer and a highly trained Classical Violinist, a songwriter and performer with a background in Jazz and an exposure to countless different genres of music which are probably reflected in my style of writing/performing. Aside from 'life and everything in it' and irrespective of genre I consider some of my biggest influences in terms of music, stye and persona to be Dave Ghrol, Steve Tyler, Jason Mraz, Raul Midon and Nina Simone.....Mr Ben Ingall is my guitar-playing-co-writing musical counterpart. We are currently gigging (predominantly) around the South Coast, London and Central England. We are so incredibly lucky to have been invited to play at (and return to) venues such as The Troubadour, The FYM FYG Bar (The Original Songwriter's Showcase), The Komedia, The Concord 2, The Hope, The Latest Music Bar, The Ent. Shed and countless others. We are equally lucky to have recently been supporting and sharing stages with acts such as The Veils, Marcus Foster, Bobby Long and Sweet Sweet Lies. ....When I write I take an emotion that is extremely raw and personal to me at the time, and form the melody and lyrics in my head. Sometimes I try to work out the chords on a guitar and show Ben, but usually I just describe the mood and feeling behind the music and he invents beautiful chord sequences. I like to think of them as sleek dresses, something that compliments the body of the lyric without being too trashy or too conservative. It's a nice way to work. .... We have just finished recording a mini-album, entitled 'Reapers & Roses' (under the stage name 'Bella Segreta'). It will be available as soon as the mixing and mastering is complete, along with a whole host of web content designed with Bella in mind. We periodically pop up in publications, on the radio, with a band, or on the TV (when we're really lucky that is). We book all our gigs ourselves, and take care of all correspondence personally, so if you'd like us to perform for you (or if you'd just like to have a chat) then please email me at: ....victoria.ferguson@live.com....Enjoy the music!
