Bio
Austin, Texas based, Composer-bandleader Graham Reynolds creates, performs, and records music for film, theater, dance, rock clubs and concert halls with collaborators ranging from Richard Linklater to DJ Spooky to the Austin Symphony Orchestra. As bandleader of the jazz-based but far reaching Golden Arm Trio, Reynolds has repeatedly toured the country and released three critically acclaimed albums. As Co-Artistic Director of Golden Hornet Project with Peter Stopschinski, Reynolds has produced more than fifty concerts of world-premier alt-classical music by more than sixty composers, as well as five symphonies, two concertos and countless chamber pieces of his own. Reynolds music has been heard through-out the world on TV, on stage, in films, and on radio, from HBO to Showtime, Cannes Film Festival to the Kennedy Center, and BBC to NPR. His score to the 2006 Robert Downey, Jr. feature "A Scanner Darkly" was named Best Soundtrack of the Decade by Cinema Retro magazine. His awards include the Lowe Music Theater Award, four Austin Critic's Table awards, the John Bustin Award, an Amp Award, five Austin Chronicle Best Composer wins, a B. Iden Payne Award, Meet the Composer and Map grants, as well as support from the National Endowment for the Arts for several projects. 2011 sees twin CD releases on Innova Records, the label branch of the American Composers Forum, of "Three Portraits of Duke Ellington", a triptych of band, strings, and remixes in tribute to and inspired by the seminal composer-bandleader, and "The Difference Engine", a triple concerto for violin, cello, piano, and string orchestra. Will you be doing any Duke shows this summer, Graham?

Remember when you guys played the art places in SA? Well, you probably didn't realize it at the time but what happened is you created moments for people to truly feel that there was something to be excited about during those art shows and whatnot. Well, when you guys moved on to a more artsy town you really left a void. Is there some way you can make some sculpture and leave it down there so future generations will know why there's such a vacuum of splendid, cool, interesting, funky sophistication looks like?
PS, Graham, if you wear a 32 waist I might have just the Mariachi pantalones for ya.
peace
On November 30th, 2007 the film "Badland" written and directed by Francesco Lucente, produced by Olimpia Lucente and Jorg G. Neumann will open in theaters in Los Angeles (Laemmle Sunset 5) and also in New York City (AMC Empire 25). It will roll out nationwide through December and January.
I am very proud of my score which I composed and recorded last year with the Hungarian National Symphony in Budapest. As a part of the score, you will also have a chance to hear the amazing virtuoso soloists; violinist Jamie Desautels, Mezzo Soprano Giancarla Tissera, and Soprano Olimpia Lucente. Other artists who kindly contributed songs to the film are Bruce Springsteen, Ray LaMontagne and Joe Morton.
This COPEX presentation drama stars Jamie Draven, Grace Fulton, Vinessa Shaw, Chandra West and Joe Morton.
I am happy that I had the opportunity to work on such an important and relevant film. We hope to see you there on the 30th of November.
You can read more about the film at: www.badlandfilm.com
