Bio:

Melinda wuchs als Tochter des Jazzpianisten und komponisten Tibor Barkoczy und der Pädagogin Judit Barkoczy in Budapest auf. Ab 6 Jahren bekam Melinda Klavier- und Ballettunterricht und spielte bereits als Kind über mehrere Jahre diverse kleinere Rollen in der ungarischen Staatsoper und im Budapester Operettentheater. Als die Familie 1987 emigrierte, kam sie nach Wien. Melinda bekam weiterhin Gesangsunterricht vom Vater, der sie bereits mit 14 Jahren in seiner Band zusammen mit Louie Austen als Frontfrau besetzte. Gespielt wurden Jazz-Standards in einem Hotel in der Wiener Innenstadt. Der Vertrag hielt 10 Jahre. 2002 lernten Melinda und ihr Vater Stani Vana kennen und gründeten !Deladap (das bedeutet „Gib ihr Beat“), die Band die erstmals ungarischen Roma-Jazz mit Elektronischen Beats vereint haben. Melinda singt und textet erstmals in Romanes. 2004 und 2005 war sie war sie mit !Deladap on tour. 2008 produziert sie „Stoika & Stojka“, auf der Gitarre spielt Harri Stojka. Mit !Deladap arbeitete sie im Studio für das vierte Album. ________________________________________________________________________ Melinda grew up in Budapest as the daughter of the jazz pianist and composer Tibor Barkoczy and the pedagogue Judit Barkoczy. Melinda took piano and ballet classes as of the age of six and played a diverse range of smaller parts in productions at the Hungarian state opera and at Budapest's operetta theater throughout her childhood. She arrived in Vienna when her family emigrated to Austria in 1987 and continued to take vocal lessons from her father. When she was only 14 years old, Melinda took on the responsibilities as female lead singer of the band her father had founded with the note jazz singer Louie Austen. Melinda's contract with the band, which played jazz standards at a renowned hotel in the center of Vienna, lasted for 10 years. In 2002, Melinda and her father, Tibor Barkoczy, met Stani Vana and founded !Deladap (which means "give her a beat"), the first band to combine Roma jazz with electronic beats. The band's founding also led Melinda to start singing and writing lyrics in the Romani language. She toured with !Deladap throughout 2004 und 2005. Melinda has produced the album „Stoika & Stojka“ featuring Harri Stojka.
