A linguistics professor lecturing his class said one day. "In English, a double negative forms a positive. In some languages though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However," he pointed out, "there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative."
A voice from the back of the room piped up ...
... "Yeah, right." - dlperrio1 year ago

About me:
Like everyone: Unique. Tall in good health physically and (one hopes) mentally. Active physically and acrobatic mentally. Curious and lucky genes gave me the intellect to really put the brain to work. I am a games person but that does not extend to people. No boring list of hobbies here, but water sports are a favourite, from windsurfing and swimming to skiing (yes, skiing IS a water sport ...). Simple lifestyle generally but I live it on a higher level mentally. I recently moved into a large townhouse in Vancouver with a drop-dead recreation center with a gymWho I'd like to meet:
Great people interested in life and being challenged. There is a lot of powerDetails

Interests
General
Business, poker, skiing, reading, collecting art, heraldry, science fiction (my vice ...), computers, chess, running, hiking, judo, karate, travelling, swimming, windsurfing, reading, and the list goes on and on and on ...Music
Ok, this is going to have people tearing their hair out, so if you treasure your follicles, skip this section. I like classical music, opera music, some western, Alternative (Depeche Mode, etc.), classic rock, classical guitar (totally hooked on great guitar music), and will listen to anything. Yes, some rap has structure and direction (even if that direction is straight down if you know what I mean ... lol) so I listen to some of it. In short, I am that horror: an omnivorous music lover.Movies
I enjoy movies. I have more free time now, so I am playing "catch up" using DVDs and have a surreal collection. What a heady trip catching up on a decade of movies! Favourites: The Sixth Sense, Transporter, Oceans 11, Rounders, 300, Malice, Unbreakable, The Saint, Casino Royale, Matrix, Empire of the Sun, 12 Monkeys, Power of One, The Pink Panther, Bangkok Dangerous, Casino Royal, Star Trek, ...Television
Books
Thousands of books on diverse subjects. An absolutely kick-ass library on heraldry including one of a kind hand-written books that the College of Arms would kill to get (you get them when I die of natural causes guys ...). My one vice is science fiction so I have a large collection in my home. It was funny when I hired a student about ten years ago to catelogue them all: it took three months, so there are over 4,000 of them. A recent guest pulled out three books and said, "Your place is too weird Yves. Here is a hundred year old book on poker, a book on ninjitsu, and a book on fish in heraldry." He put them back, pulls out another three, announcing wine, the zone diet, and the history of warfare, respectively. I enjoy books, a lot in French and English. The primary reason I move is to get more shelf space, it seems, and my recent place has a room just for the books.Heroes
Roy Thompson, Mark Hansen, Michel A., my parents, my brother and sister are my heros too, my nieces are working on becoming my heros (lol) as is Jonathan. High on the hero list is Dan F., Philip T. That's it for now. The list of friends that I respect is WAYYY LONGER than the hero list. Heroes in apprenticeship: Jonathan S., Victor M., Patrick M., Thomas P., and a bunch of great-thinking youngsters under 20 that will wrestle the world in the future.
