About 10 years ago i used to belong to a group called JASFA. (Japanese Animation science fiction association) Well, Keith Mayfield with the help of Jeff Lindholm and Larry Drew. Started a con called Katsucon. They needed exhibitors. Well, My friend Charlie who used to own L and C Collectibles just lost his store and I had a hook up to get some anime CDS and poster from asia, so After some cajoling by Keith and Larry and Jeff, we decided to sign up for Katsucon as their first dealer.

Well At Katsucon Ichi, I had so much fun. i knew a lot of the staff so I donated so many hours, I was entitled to a refund of my entry (too bad I got my entry free as an exhibitor) and a T-shirt. I mean it was fun even staffing. i worked during the day. The first night I helped in the video room for 5 hours. The next night well I was security outside in the hall of the dealers room. 2 hours before it opened an alarm was pulled and when it ended, i had enough time to go upstairs shower and go to the dealers room. that evening at 3 pm when we shut down, Me and Charlie went upstairs to see how we had done. WE had done great for our first time being exhibitors. I mean it was my personal collection of things I could replace and as I Sat there, i looked over to Charlie and asked if We could spend the night. He said Yes and next thing I know it was 11 PM.

From there we went to Anime Weekend Atlanta and Otakon. The business continued to grow. This business was originally suppose to be something on the side. Charlie was in charge of the business side and I was in charge of procuring the Merchandise. It kept on growing.

We decided to give about 10 % back to the anime fans so we started donating cos play prizes. Next thing we know everyone is doing it. Then we had a set back. Charlie was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. He couldn't go to cons anymore. So we scaled back. But his health was not good so he decided to cut back his con schedule a lot. WE agreed he would have the northeast sci fi cons and since i had the energy i would do the rest. He had his store in MD and I had the store in VA.

Well this was a major set back, but cons continued to grow and the fans who gave us support were wonderful. In 1999 to about 2001 a young lady name Heather foster asked to open a franchise store. Now Everyone always wanted to open a store. I thought she was full of it, but she surprised me. She did the research and in 2001 we open the Melbourne store. This was a temp thing for her and 3 years later we bough her out.

the year is now 2006, We have ties to several distributors and are actually the rep for several of them. We are regularly contacted as a consultant to GE and several others. We do 60 shows plus and the main con manager does about 37 personally. But most important of all, we are still fans. ANIME PAVILION would have never grown this big with out the support of the fans and the staffers we have met along the way. See heroes for list of those who should be thanks. And don't forget to go to our main website! ANIME PAVILION.. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
