the project :
The transcontinental duo 230 Divisadero make stately, finely crafted atmospheric songs that stand outside the bounds of contemporary musical trends. Their self released langorous drone ep has drawn comparisons to SunnO))) and Nurse With Wound. On their self titled full length debut, the duo of Britain's Matt Shaw (Tex la Homa) and Monaco's Nick Grey have honed in the wide audio brush strokes of their ep and have produced one of the finest blends of Brian Eno inspired art song we've heard in years. 230 Divisadero is simultaneously refreshing and reminiscent of classic acts like Talk Talk & New Zealand's sterling & sadly under recognized act This Kind of Punishment.
230
Divisadero's first ep, A Vision Of Lost Unity was released on Milk & moon recordings, and features the
extra participation of Canadian cellist David Widmer. The ep
is a combination of natural and electronic sounds and atmospheres that can bring to mind the drone music of Sunn O))) or the electronic pulses
you might find in a track by coil, two amongst many, many
different influences. Apollolaan Recordings released a second ep in 2008, The Breather Key was recorded in Monaco and was released in an edition of 50 hand painted copies and is now sold out.
230 Divisadero's debut LP is available on Locust Music.

the players :
UK
based singer / composer / producer Matt Shaw has released
several beautifully received albums and Eps under the name Tex La
Homa on labels such as Talitres, Acuarela and Moon
Palace. His current projects involve new Tex La Homa recordings
and live dates, also an EP is due for release in Japan by Knurb,
a collaboration between Matt and Masayuki Miyoshi. Matt is
also working on recordings for Mind Expansion records in
Detroit USA and has recently completed a track for release on 7”
vinyl for the Paris based Astro Lab label.
Nicolai Riccardo Moldoveanu Grey lives in Monaco and Montréal, Canada and has been releasing depressing music since 2002. His main musical entity, Nick Grey & The Random Orchestra (contributors including Martyn Bates, Charlemagne Palestine, Jessica Constable, Far Black Furlong etc.) has often been entertainingly depicted as "snorecore", "absence music", "ideal for sessions of late-night estrangement" or "typical bongwater mouthwash gargles". He is a current member of the projects 230 Divisadero, 48 Cameras, and Grey Force Wakeford.
