    IMAGINE

    The year 1984 generated a whole lot of bad publicity, but history books also mark it as the birth year of the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival. After 25 years it's time for a new name: IMAGINE. That doesn't mean that the content is not as good as ever. From sf to cult, from anime to fantasy, and from horror to experiment. 15 -26 april, Amsterdam!

    The main programme consists of various new European, Western and Asian genre films, particularly out of the genres fantasy, horror, science-fiction, anime, thriller, drama and comedy. Many of these films will have their European or Dutch premiere during IMAGINE. Afterwards, a number of these films will be in circulation.

    The festival also focuses on the exchange of know-how and discussion between professionals, students and the main audience, by means of freely accessible ‘Q&A’s’, a symposium and a master class. IMAGINE aims to interest and enthuse a broad audience for fantastic cinema and stimulate (future) Dutch film makers in making more fantastic films.

    Since 2000, a new educative youth programme has been added to the festival: The Fantastic KidsFilmFestival. This offers kids the opportunity to learn and acquaint themselves with (fantastic) film and film production in a playful manner.
