Bio
.... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... ...... .......... ...... Stepping out with her debut solo album this fall, Element C. Everest is a versatile artist with a growing list of credentials. Not content with the label of “female emcee” she blurs the lines between being a Hip-Hop artist and just being an artist. As a rapper, singer/songwriter, voiceover talent, radio personality, and model, Element is Milwaukee’s 2000 version of the Renaissance woman. While best known as the female lead in the local Hip-Hop group Black Elephant, Element originally honed her skills as a member of the R&B group Lovher, a group that would eventually sign to Sisqo’s Def Jam distributed record label. Although her role in Lovher would end with her leaving the group before signing a recording contract, she would realize her first solo opportunity in 2002 when she was seen worldwide walking the red carpet on Entertainment Tonight for the motion picture “Deliver Us from Eva.” The film, which starred Gabrielle Union and LL Cool J, featured “Show and Prove,” a song that Element wrote and performed. In 2005, she lent her voice to national campaigns for McDonald’s 365 black television and radio spots that were awarded SAG awards. Element is currently lending her voice to radio spots for local businesses as well as national television and radio campaigns. Element garnered further notoriety touring the country performing with Black Elephant, gracing the cover and pages of numerous local and national magazines over the past 5 years. Her onstage persona ranges from an angelic melodic line to some rapid-fire rhymes of her own in a confident, socially-focused style reminiscent of Queen Latifah and Lauryn Hill. When she is not on stage or in the recording booth Element can be heard on the air waves or seen at local events for 88.9 Radio Milwaukee. In addition to her skills as a performer Element has hosted/emceed multiple stages at Summerfest, the largest music festival in the country. She has also conducted celebrity interviews for Jam for Peace and was a host on public access television (Channel 14) for Mixed G T.V. Defining herself through a new and daring vision of what a multi-faceted, young Black woman can be, Element has become one the city’s rising stars in event planning and promotion. As a burgeoning entrepreneur, she is the director of marketing & public relations for Kairo Communications, an entertainment and promotions company based in Milwaukee. Everest’s album features contributions by notable national artists including Big Pooh of underground Hip-Hop favourites Little Brother (Atlantic Records) and Stic Man of the politically charged Hip-Hop group Dead Prez (Sony). The album, a 17 song set, titled Life is a Heist (taken from a line by one of Element’s favourite emcees, The Roots front man Black Thought) will be released on Tuesday, October 30th. ...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... .. -
