- 24-Hour Teen Crisis Hotline: The telephone hotline is staffed 24-hours a day to teens in crisis. 434-972-SAFE(7233) Responses to calls can include offering a friendly ear, arranging for counseling with RESP staff, providing emergency shelter, or referrals to community programs to meet specific needs.
- Crisis Counseling: Teens (12 - 18 y.o.) and their families can receive ongoing counseling as needed until they are 21. Counseling aims to resolve family issues and return the teen to the family home where possible, or to find safe, permanent shelter when the home environment is not available. Counseling is available for teens who have run or are at risk of running away or being homeless.
- Shelter: Volunteer host homes provide 24-hour supervision and shelter to teens up to 19 years old who have left home. In the event a family home is unavailable or inappropriate, the program also offers spaces at a local group home in Charlottesville. If you are interested in opening your home to a youth in need, contact RESP Counselor Paige Nolt at 434-296-4118, ext. 250, or e-mail pnolt@cyfs.org or Kelly Anderson at kellya@cyfs.org. Volunteer host home providers receive training, ongoing support and a stipend while housing youth.
- Youth Companions: Youth companions are young adults who serve as companions and mentors to program participants. To volunteer to be a Youth Companion, contact RESP Counselor Paige Nolt at 434-296-4118, ext. 250, or e-mail pnolt@cyfs.org or Kelly Anderson at kellya@cyfs.org.

- Heroes Youth Council: These teens offer outreach, advice and assistance to RESP staff. They make presentations and distribute information about RESP in area schools, make suggestions about ways to reach at-risk kids, and are available to help with program work when needed. Opening doors to bright futures for kids. The CYFS Runaway Emergency Services Program provides crisis and ongoing counseling to teens as young as 12 who have run away or are at risk of running away or being homeless. The program also offers emergency shelter in host homes for up to two weeks to provide a safe place for teens to stay while working to resolve the issues that led to their leaving home. RESP services are available to teens in Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson counties. All RESP services are free of charge.Details
