I am a 43 year old native New Orleanian who has a passion for our great culture; a culture people all over the world would die to have. It is worth fighting for!!! I am a twenty three year tourism professional who loves selling New Orleans to domestic and international meeting planners. I have a terrific family and supportive friends. I like helping our neighbors everyday whether it be in fighting crime or rebuilding a kid's park. It is all about our city of New Orleans; giving something back and making it better than how you found it.


Murray Nelson is a life-long Republican with a clear vision and plan for moving District 98 forward and working with the legislature in Baton Rouge. He is taking a stand for New Orleans, and he has the ability to represent our needs for recovery and promote progress and expansion.

In 2000, Murray started DMC New Orleans, LLC, a local convention planning company. He started his company on a single principle: “The answer is yes, now what is your question?” Whatever the client needs, Murray listens and delivers, and over the years, he has provided spectacular results. The driving force behind what he does for his client is their return on their investment (ROI) the money the client spends in New Orleans needs to fulfill their goals.

Murray is an active member in the N. O. Convention and Visitors Bureau, Meeting Professionals International, Association of Destination Management Executives, and the Hospitality Education Network Association, all organizations that promote tourism for the city of New Orleans. He is also the chairman of the Upper Hurstville Resident’s Association. As Chairman of Upper Hurstville Security District and Resident’s Association, Murray keeps his and other neighborhoods and organizations informed on community issues, safety, and crime prevention. Since 2003, Murray has helped other neighborhoods by addressing local issues and speaking about crime prevention.

He is active in the tourism industry, and he is trying to rebuild his company and New Orleans to be better than before the storm. He sees companies and conventions returning in 2008 and 2009 to stronger levels. Murray has always seen the incredible merits of New Orleans, and promotes his city to domestic and international professionals everyday!

Murray will continue to promote economic development for the region and bring New Orleans’ economy back while working with local, national, and international professionals.
