    Research has shown that musical study develops critical thinking and self discipline skills and improves a child's early cognitive development, basic math and reading abilities, self-esteem, SAT scores, ability to work in teams, spatial reasoning skills, and school attendance. Also, researchers have found that children involved with music education are more likely to graduate from high school and attend college, and are less likely to be involved with gangs and substance abuse. Music is not only eroding, but completely disappearing in education systems...help support our cause and speak out.

About me:

24 Hours of Music is a philanthropy on Bradley University's campus to raise money and awareness about Music and Fine Arts Education in the Peoria School District 150.

Our organization raises money and to promote awareness in the community and on campus we put on 24 consecutive hours of music ranging from rock to Christian, jazz to acappella, and techno to classical. The beauty of 24 Hours of Music is that all participants freely give of their time and energy to perform. Students, faculty, and local musicians dedicate the 24 hours to camp out on Bradley University’s Olin Quad to enjoy the music and show support for the Peoria School District 150 music programs; programs that many of us have come from, which are now being cut.

In addition to the final event, hours are spent beforehand raising money and reaching out to the community in the hopes of creating more awareness about the disappearing music programs in the local district. All proceeds from our event go directly into a fund specifically for the Peoria School District 150 music and fine art teachers, for items that they have a need for such as music and instruments.

Date for 2010 are: APRIL 23-24th 5PM-5PM ..

The event is FREE, but donations are encouraged to raise money for District 150.
