About me: The Student Missions program at Southern Adventist University began in 1969 with one Student Missionary. Since then, over a thousand students have taken out a school year or summer to follow the calling God has placed in their hearts to serve around the nation and the world. The Student Missions program exists to help these students find their place to serve, and support them throughout the experience.
TO BE AN SM...
Take some time to pray, have a chat with a former SM, check out some mission websites (like www.hesaidgo.net), and come by the Campus Ministries office and sign up to get started on the application paperwork. We are always happy to answer any questions you might have along the way, or just talk through the decision with you. From paperwork, the Student Missions Orientation class and retreat, fundraising, and obtaining tickets and visas, we want to help the process go as smoothly as possible for you.
CURRENT SMs...
To our heroes currently in the field--good work! We think of you, pray for you, and want to support you in the best way we can. Besides the monthly mailings, we hope to find other creative ways to let you know we miss you, and we're proud of what you're doing to serve others and share Jesus. Let us know if you have any ideas!
VETERAN SMs...
Returning SMs realize that the unique adventure of being an SM doesn't end when your year of service does. Facing challenges of reverse culture shock, and adjusting back to school and social life can be daunting, but another valuable part of the growth experience. We want to make sure that you feel supported and heard as you make this transition. The Re-Entry Retreat is one of the best ways to help you stay connected with each other as "veterans," and help each other through the challenges. We can also use your help in spreading the word about student missions and in supporting the current Student Missionaries. Check with Student Missions club president, Crystal Kablanow, about how you can be involved.
