Back in 1978 a tiny dive bar opened up deep in the Mission in San Francisco. Little by little things got a little more spacious and friends and family more numerous. We currently consist of a community-conscious management and staff that hold some fierce parties and pour some mean hooch. In addition, we have a colourful cast of regulars and a few kitties here and there. We are many in gender, sex, colour, creed and nationaltity.

Thanks for all the good times. The service is always friendly, the beer is always cold, the bands are always HOT, and even on a cool night, the back patio area has me feelin all warm & fuzzy.... When I leave the El Rio, I have to stop at least a half dozen times on the way home to pee.... Aahhh, good times!!
