Bio
.... ...... ...... .. .... Bio-.. 26 Miles Per Hour, is a high energy hard-rock band hailing from Petaluma Ca, just minutes north of the S.F. Bay area. The band has recently regrouped in July 2009. 26MPH is currently finishing up new material for their, long awaited, summer 2010 full-length CD release. Since the band's inception in 1995, 26MPH has gone through various incarnations with now original member's Eric and Adam Nettleton finally reigniting the fire which is 26MPH! Drummer, Kevin Fitzgerald and Bass player Mike Boyer have added to the completion of what critic's say is the most complex offering of angry and explosive, yet passionate melodic sounds the band has ever offered. 26MPH originally started off with more alternative/punk/grunge influences, but since has progressed into a heavy juggernaut that incorporates the intensity of metal and hardcore styles, while maintaining quite an array of melodic melodies and influences. The band has played shows spanning the Nor Cal region, and sharing the stage with such national acts as: Papa Roach, Alien Ant Farm, Halestorm, Adelitas Way, Will Haven, Hoods, Sevendust, Kittie, Kotton Mouth Kings, Murder Dolls, Will Haven, Agent Orange, and Sprung Monkey to name a few. 26MPH offers two past DIY full-length releases "Apathy" and "Walk Alone" and most currently their label release off Popsmear Records, "Redefine" which incorporates a mix of hard-edge influences and is rated one the bands heaviest and melodic to date. Although, with the looming release of their newest album approaching. The air is buzzing with anticipation and excitement! With their driving hard work ethic and support for the local music scene you will no doubt be hearing about the band 26 Miles Per Hour soon!.. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .................. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .............. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -

.. ........ ...... .. ..Apathy..-.. .. While one of the members who performed on this disc has since departed, the threesome from Santa Rosa known as 26 MPH have put together a collection of somewhat diverse tunes on their disc entitled "Apathy". After the recording of this disc, bassist Chris Henderson parted ways with the band making way for John Rosser. However, Henderson's work with guitarist / vocalist Erik Nettleton and drummer Tono Romero Garcia combined produced a smooth mixture of a few styles of music to produce an angry, straight-off-the-street blend of tones. Comprised of fourteen tracks, each of which introduces a different side of the band, "Apathy" certainly is not tame by any measure. Starting with opening track "Rise Up" which jumps out to a fast start, this disc is a good read lyrically and an even better listen. Nettleton's work as the vocalist, combining a somewhat higher pitched clean style with a distorted vocal tone keeps the dynamic nature of this disc. The second track, "Can't Stand the Sight of You" as well as the eleventh track "H.C.C." introduce a strong punk influence with the straight ahead bass tones and barking vocals. The strongest tracks on this disc include the bass led "Ejected" with it's intense lyrical content and the Romero drum-led "The Tribe" which features Nettleton's strongest vocal work. Each of these tracks define the 26 MPH sound with the chunk-driven smooth riffs and intelligent street-wise lyrical content. While some of the tracks on "Apathy" are definitely stronger than others, on the whole this CD is a well-produced good listen. The mixture of punk, hardcore, and mild hip-hop flavors make "Apathy" an added bonus to any metal collection. ....26 Miles Per hour are fucking awesome. (author: Ryan) This is an excellent album, they do a great job of mixing rap, metal, punk, and hardcore. They have some phat ass bass lines, along with some hard riffs which goes great together. There is not a dull moment all throughout this album, at least I have yet to find one. My favorite songs on Apathy are Rise Up, Torn Again, Ejected, the Tribe, and See It In Your Face. I haven't had the chance to see 26 Miles Per Hour in concert yet, but I'm sure the time will come very soon. I like every song on this album, yet I don't like punk, that just goes to show that they sure know what they're doing. The best songs on this album are the ones where it is melodic yet heavy at other times, with a touch of punk to make it just perfect. The music of 26 Miles Per Hour is so aggressive, out of nowhere Eric will just start screaming, followed by a bass line and riff that's fits in perfect, then the drums are exactly on beat with all the other instruments. It's pretty hard to play the guitar and sing at the same time, and get it so perfect, I'd have to say Eric does a great job at it. With Tono on Drums, John on Bass, and Eric doing vocals and Guitar I don't see how anyone that likes this type of music can't love 26 Miles Per Hour. I recommend that any fans of metal, rapcore, punk, or hardcore to purchase this album as soon as possible. You can hear some samples at www.cdbaby.com where you can also buy the album if you like it please feel free to do so... ...... ...... .. ...... .. ..Walk Alone-.. .. .. Walk Alone What was initially slated to be the EP titled "Bullet Proof" (which was reviewed some time back), 26 MPH retooled the existing tracks and added a slew of new tunes to complete this newest full length effort. Featuring guitarist Adam Nettleton, vocalist Eric Nettleton, bassist John Rosser, and drummer Tono Garcia Romero, these guys have pumped through another solid effort of hardcore laden, hip-hop laced, just straight in your face heavy music. As with their first effort, 1999's "Apathy", 26 MPH has brought in plenty of elemental objects to complete this tone. With this disc, the strong points include the extended opening track, which is also the title track, the second track "Fall Away" which offers up an almost streamlined, dare-say ready for the radio type of blend, with Eric's vocals working at his melodic best, the punkier/hardcore anthem "Spit In My Face" which brings in Eric's signature vocal work, the Rosser-led "Force Fed" which features slower tempo'd held guitar riffs to open, and the balance of the "Bullet Proof" EP. 26 MPH offers plenty of hardcore driven sounds and straight ahead rhythms that play loud and heavy, but it is really Eric's ability with the vocals that sets these guys ahead in the overall scheme. His ability to walk from the hardcore to a distinct vocal melody does something a little extra for the already strong guitar-drums-bass work. This is a recommended effort. ....-In keeping with the style of their popular and successful release "Apathy", 26 MPH have put together an EP entitled "Bullet Proof" which features their newest member John Rosser on the bass guitar. This five song disc keeps that distinct 26 MPH sound which is heavy hardcore mixed with melody and solid guitar work to create a style that also includes some punk influences. The second and title track of this EP, "Bullet Proof", has a heavy punk influence with it's quick moving strum work while the third track "Ignite" melds in some hip-hop influences to open the song only to move into a grooving chorus. "Ignite" is actually one of 26 MPH's most ambitious tracks with a wide range of styles mixed in to create a song which moves back and forth, covering the landscape. At a quick just over three minute length, "Ignite" is different from their usual straight ahead chops. While the guitar licks and sound is solid and bounces between riffs, what sets this band apart from other acts is the vocal work of Erik Nettleton. Nettleton continually progresses as a vocalist with a wide vocal range and intensity. Moving from a melodic, higher pitched sing to a straight from the street pissed bark and yell, Nettleton handles this part of the band's sound very well. True, combined with Rosser's bass work, drummer Tono Romero Garcia's work, and Nettleton's own guitar work, the sound is already solid, but Nettleton's vocals set the band apart. "Bullet Proof" is another fine effort and 26 MPH fans will not be disappointed at all. People not familiar with 26 MPH would do very well to pick this effort up and hear this truly angry and aggressive group....... .. ...... .. ...... .. ..Redefine-.. .. .. Out of the Santa Rosa and debuting on PopSmear Records, 26 Miles Per Hour have hit themselves a hard hitting, somewhat melody driven at times effort that screams intensity for much of the effort but introduces some hook rhythms leading to another strong effort from this perennially impressive act. Featuring guitarist Adam Nettleton, vocalist Erick Nettleton, drummer Tono Garcia Romero, and bassist John Rosser, 26 Miles Per Hour have basically taken their sound, since their last recording, in a much streamlined direction, working the hardcore underlines but running with the occasional melody to break open the entire disc. Of the tracks presented, the highlights include the opening tune “Recognize” which works at the heavier rhythms and more pissed vocals, “Back Stab” which pulses at some solid guitar work as well, “A Promise Broken” which is a more accessible tune that pulls in Erick’s sing vocals more than anything, and “Brace Yourself” which opens with a pretty killer guitar lick with some scream vocals and street-wise lyrics. Through this band’s constant evolution over the years and watching it occur over their past two discs, 26 Miles Per Hour has arrived at this full frontal sound now, introducing some pretty straight up melody at times but bolstering their heavy music appeal with selected tracks on this effort, creating the frenzy when needed yet pumping straight to the accessibility factor. 26 Miles Per Hour, especially on this new disc, work very much as one unit with the Nettleton brothers playing off each other well (with Adam’s guitar work and Erick’s vocals) as they pump the front line sound to the Romero/Rosser backdrop. This disc moves from the strong and aggressive to the sing melody higher levels wasting little effort in between and giving the band some pretty broad range here. This disc is basically a culmination of the band’s sound through the past few years, now arriving at that distinct ability to create these well defined tunes that have that glossy touch and sparkly shine that screams big time in different sections. Probably their best effort to date and one that certainly “redefines” the band’s focus, and puts it well at hand. .. -
