THINGS I LOVE: urban farming, frisbee, public education, a good diner, mass transit, double dutch, slam poetry, my roommate, Belle Isle--esp. the big slide thereupon, dive bars, scenic Capitol Park, my students, my former students, tamales, large bodies of water, bikes as transportation, baklava, Eastern Market, live music, small museums, big libraries, books that change everything, music that breaks your heart, stringed instruments, the Pistons, my siblings, hookah, traveling to uncomfortable places, thrift shops, used bookstores, my urban family, random gift giving, movie palaces, ex/future boyfriends, punctuation, murals, running in inclement weather, vinyl, astrophysics, weekend NPR, air hockey, anecdotes, board games. THINGS I HATE: chain restaurants, SUVs and the people that drive them, privilege, urban sprawl, books by Dan Brown and the people that read them, single issue voters, minor injustices, exotic pets, litter, bad music if not acknowledged to be a guilty pleasure, lazy teachers, still lifes--esp. with dead birds and/or dead rabbits.
