Moorcock's Elric work, Tolkien, Leiber's Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, Brust's Taltos novels. Outside of genre, I love the work of Chuck Pahlaniuk and Cormac McCarthy, and anything by Michael Chabon and Don Delillo usually leaves me shaking my head with admiration.
Paul S. Kemp Random House has posted a second excerpt of my forthcoming Star Wars novel, Crosscurrent. It features the opening scene. Enjoy. http://lnk.ms/4gK4T張貼於 14 小時前。 檢視更多
關於我: Hello,
I'm Paul S. Kemp, NY Times bestselling author of fantasy fiction, much of it set in the Forgotten Realms setting from Wizards of the Coast. I'd characterize my fiction as a cross between dark fantasy and sword and sorcery fiction. Moorcock and Leiber are my touchstones, though (like many authors) I've been influenced strongly by David Gemmell, H.P. Lovecraft, and Steven Brust (particularly his Vlad Taltos novels).
My most popular fiction features Erevis Cale, a one-time assassin turned priest who finds himself caught up in the schemes of dark men and still darker gods. It's a fun ride. Here's a link to all my novels and stories. I have also signed a contract with Del Rey to write a novel set in the Star Wars expanded universe and featuring the Jedi Jaden Korr. Despite the differences in the settings, I expect the Star Wars novel will have a similar tone to my Forgotten Realms work.
Anyway, folks sometimes ask me where to start with the Cale stories. That's an easy one. Start with either Twilight Falling, book one of The Erevis Cale Trilogy, or Shadowbred, book one of The Twilight War. Either is a good place to start the Cale stories.
If you're interested in trying out my work for free, I've posted big chunks of it on my website as free pdf downloads. You can download the the first five chapters of Shadowbred. Have a read. See if you enjoy them.
A list of my novels (well, most of them) is in the slideshow below. I look forward to meeting you. Please leave me a comment or drop me a message.

我想認識: Fellow writers and readers of fantasy and speculative fiction.
The picture below is me with my sons. They were two then. Now they're three and have started pre-school. Man, does time fly. :-)
Paul, you are by far my favorite author. Trying not to finish Shadowstorm to quickly but Shadowrealm is giving me dirty looks from the book shelf. xoxo ~MrsDrasek~
yay you talked to me! thats cool because you are all famous and stuff :D.. have to tell you that i love your books.. they have something that others do not.. really draws me in.. anyway haven't read in a little while but know that i will be really soon!
shadowrealm finally out? i remember looking for it for a while and no one at the book store could even see a release date on the comp... bastards! guess i can go check again.. or you can send a freebie.. v.v whats the chances of that
i see it as giving something back (at the risk of sounding cheesy) right now ive been reading karen miller and thats gave me images and my own story to write about. its interests me alot to write lyrics and then find out how people interperate what the song is about, its amazing how people stamp a little individual piece of their experience onto things. its like sonic roshak inkblots. you can hear slightly older stuff at www.myspace.com/dyingeachdayded it would be interesting to hear what it creates in your head as a writer :)
