    ICA REVIEW JUN 09

ONE OF MANY OF THE BANDS AROUND TOWN, THE ONES WITH PERHAPS THE MOST FERVENT FANBASE ARE 28 JACKS, THANKS TO A REPUTATION FOR GREAT LIVE SHOWS AND A GENUINE ENTHUSIASIM FOR WHAT THEY DO. IN SOUND THEY RECOLLECT THE LATE LAMENTED JYROJETS, A GROUP RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A BLUEPRINT TO MANY YOUNG ACTS OF THE TRIUMPHS, AND INDEED PITFALLS, TO BE HAD FROM TRYING TO BE MORE THAN JUST A PERENNIALY LOCAL COMBO,
sO 28 JACKS HAVE CERTAINLY GOT THE ENTHUSIASM TO SUCCEED AND ARE NOW AT AN INTERESTING STAGE OF THEIR CAREERS WHEN THEY CAN START PROVING THEIR WORTH,
THEY HAVE BEEN TOGETHER SINCE EARLY 2007 FORMING OUT OF A MUTUAL LOVE OF LOUD INDIE ROCK & ROLL....... THE SOUND OF ALL OUR ICONS LIKE NOEL, KURT, JOHN BONHAM AND JOHN SQUIRE MASHED UP TOGETHER. GETTING THIER NAME FROM A LONG RAINY NIGHT WITH JUST A BOTTLE OF JACK DANIELS AND TRAVEL SCRABBLE, THEY HAVE SET ABOUT ESTABLISHING THEMSELVES ON THE LIVE SCENE BUT ADMIT IT CAN BE FRUSTRATING WHEN PROMOTORS EXPECT THEM TO PALY FOR FREE, A GRIPE SHARED BY MANY OF THIER PEERS.
THANKS TO RECENTLY SELF-REALESED EP, VICIOUS, AND A DVD OF THIER PERFORMANCE AT BELLADRUM FESTIVAL THEY'RE ATTRACTING WIDER ATTENTION AND READY TO TAKE THINGS TO THE NEXT LEVEL.................

  • round 1 of recording

Well thats round 1 of recording finnished and oh my god it was fucking insane!

    Almost everythings all done;

    drums,

    bass,

    keys,

    some more keys,

    guitars,

    some more guitars,

even more guitars and more fucking guitars!!

Got quite a bit of vocals done aswell.

That weekend in glasgow had some of the funniest things I've ever seen, heard, and done in a long time!!

Ended up sleeping in the boot of a car in an industrial estate in
sterling beside a yard called FES (Where they presumably make hats for
all the tommy cooper fans worldwide)??!! And thats after driving about
for 6 or 7 hours looking for a hotel, because our lodgings we're quite
    frankly astoundingly manky!!

Although we we're totally washed out, miserable and TIRED more to the
point, we we're roaring (and I mean ROARING) with laughter! It was
    amazing!

(there's some late night video blogs to follow)

Would I do that bit again???

Yes definatly but I would at least have to have a sleeping bag with me this time!

Apart from that the recording process was brilliant! Bruce the producer
guy was quality and even the rough mixes sound fucking mental!!

Round 2 shall commence at the start of next month. We have a bit more
vocals to do, some percussion, some acoustic guitar, and the mammoth
    task of mixing it!!

Can't fucking wait!! Bring on the trumpets!!

    Take it easy...

    Jake

    xx
