Black Fork is a punk band from the East Bay, CA, that played mostly during the years 1993-'97. During that time they put out one LP, "Rock for Loot" on Lookout! Records, then promptly broke up. In 1995, an LP had been recorded, but due to a series of setbacks, the songs were divided into two EPs and released on labels that almost immediately folded. There is also a split 7" with comrades-in-arms Los Canadians, as well as tracks on various compilations, including Recess Records' "Play at Your Own Risk Vol 2.", Zafio's "This is the East Bay...", Lookout!/Kill Rock Stars' "A Slice of Lemon" and Very Small Records' "Wood Panel Pacer Wagon". MOST OF THESE TRACKS, REMIXED AND REMASTERED, ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL AND CD FROM BERKELEY'S MESS ME UP RECORDS. Black Fork was best known for the intensity of its live show, which always left both band and audience close to deaf and soaked in a hot vapor of sweat and liquor-swill. The band was known to cram as many as 16 songs into a 20-minute set, leaving many to wonder both why and how they managed to play so fast. There were four or five exhausting (and for the most part ill-fated) U.S. tours, one of which saw the band return home starving, sick and penniless, riding with their equipment in the sweltering hold of a rented moving truck. Black Fork was resurrected to play 924 Gilman Street's 20th anniversary show in 2007, and has been playing together every now and then since. As noted, a discography is now available from MMU, which includes nearly all BF's recorded material. All the members of Black Fork are now in other bands, so live shows are few and far between, but there will be a few this year (2009). Singer Robin Tussin and Guitar player Josh Indar are now in Severance Package. Cyrus, the bass player, is in Saviours and Drunk Horse. Drummer Jim Nastic is in Swann Danger. ..
