I'm going to start using Myspace again. Everyone moved over to Facebook like a mass of lemmings jumping off a cliff into a collective sea of mediocrity and conformity. I love weird and wacky, glamorous and glittery, funky old Myspace and I am coming back to stay!

About me:
David Normal

A very outdated photo

A more recent photo
* * *
David Normal began his career at the age of 16 making punk flyers in San Francisco. Never being content with the prevailing trend, Normal quickly moved on to creating interactive theater parties. These events, created in the California countercultural millieu of the '90s, were frenzied collaborative happenings that were seminal in their influence. "The Feast of Fools", "St. Valentine's Midnight Masquerade Debauch" and "The Secrets of Uranus" are a few of these productions.
Normal began the 21st century traveling through South East Asia in an effort to document trance and spirit possession ceremonies. The video and photos collected form the corpus of a film entitled: "Loose Spirits". In recent years Normal has devoted himself to animation, and produced two short films: "The Bicycle Ride" (a tribute to Albert Hofmann) and "Pyramid" (a collaboration with Colin Angus).
Today David Normal's primary focus is on painting. He resides in San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, April Lelia, an Indonesian artist.

This is an image from my recent installation of "Illuminations" at Finder's Creepers Gallery in Des Moines, Iowa.
Above is a video that shows the experience of visiting the exhibit.
I'm staging a major installation of this work at this year's Burning Man Festival. If you have seen my work here before and your appreciate it please take a moment to check my support page and make a donation:
http://normal.bz/donate/support-the-illuminations/
I'm offering a range of signed prints to those generous enough to help. You can donate as much or as little as you wish - it all helps. This is an excellent opportunity to support an ambitious project while obtaining a beautiful print in exchange.
Thanks!! - David Normal
