  • Bio

Emma Donoghue is a singer, cellist, and producer of all things that bring people together to shake their groove thangs. Born and raised in Boston, MA (Beantown) she started studying classical cello at the age of 7 and singing and acting in musicals at the age of 8. Nurtured by The Freelance Players and the summer arts program at Creative Arts at Park in Brookline, MA, Ms. Donoghue had the opportunity to grow as an artist at a very young age. At 15 her family moved to Amherst, MA so she could attend The Pioneer Valley Performing Arts High School. The school was in it's pioneering phase starting with this first class of 64 students and 12 full-time staff members. It was there that Ms. Donoghue fell in love with technical theater and the magic behind the entertainment business. This began a career in theatrical lighting and production management that took Ms. Donoghue back to Boston to attend Emerson College where she was awarded a Bachelors of Arts in Theater Studies with concentrations in Lighting Design and Art History. Before walking in her graduation ceremony, Ms. Donoghue was blessed with the opportunity to serve as the Production Manager at Opera Boston, a well-known and respected opera company in residence at The Majestic Theater in Boston's Theater District. She, along with the small and extremely dedicated staff, produced 10 operas within the 2 years she was with the company. These productions include: North American Premier of Peter Eötvös’ "Angels in America" and John Adams' "Nixon in China," both produced before Ms. Donoghue's 24th birthday. In the summer of 2004, Ms. Donoghue took "the plunge" and moved to New York City to pursue a career in Television Production at A&E Television Networks of Biography, The History Channel, A&E fame. Finally in her element, Ms. Donoghue spread roots in Brooklyn and started her journey back into performing and creative expression. She is now performing all over the city as a singer, dancer, and cellist. Along with singer/songwriter/playwright Dana McCoy, Ms. Donoghue is producing the First Annual "PILLOWFIGHT THEATER FESTIVAL" to open on Thursday, June 26th, 2008 at The Theaters at 43 Bleeker St. in New York City's East Village. Ms. Donoghue is currently working on her first rock-opera and hopes to continue to feel this wonderful creative inspiration. She can be reached through this myspace page or ejdonoghue@yahoo.com.
