Apostolos Angelis is a music composer, mixing engineer and producer of classical-electronic music under the name of 2A (the initial letters of his first and last name). The artist fuses classical with electronic music, orchestral instruments and choirs, world percussion, innovative synthesizers and experimental sounds. He is an autodidact musician who can compose, arrange and orchestrate whole projects in his mind, without keeping extended notes. Until today, he doesn’t know music notation and conventional music theory. Apostolos was born in August 1983 in Trikala Greece where he lived his school years. At the age of 14, he started being interested in sound and music composition after he found old vinyl and cassettes at his uncle’s house, containing classical music and legendary spaghetti western soundtracks. At the same year, he started composing and producing music uninterruptedly using computer programs, which were based in small sound samples. It is noticeable to be mentioned, that he refused to take music theory lessons and he learned about composition and production techniques by hearing. After school, Apostolos moved to Thessaloniki Greece in 2001 where he studied Natural Environment Engineering at Aristotle University. During these years, he conceived and created his debut album Hologram, which was a fusion of electronic and new age music. Many demo tracks of the album were sent to record labels world wide, but nobody could take the risk to release this kind of music. In 2009 Apostolos and his brother Vasileios who is also a music composer and producer, launched the independent record label Apoapsis Records in order to release their own material. The album Hologram was released and distributed in October 2009 by Apoapsis Records. The next 2A work came in 2011 with the single Band Of The Robots/The Mirror. This time he embodied a wider range of musical genres, sounds and cultures. His work now has a heavenly touch, becomes complex, detailed and rich in sound, based mostly in classical and electronic music. Ten days later a second release with two tracks comes out with the title March To Heaven/Cosmic Waltz. It was in the same concept as his previous single with the rich compositions and orchestrations to dominate again. In February 2012, the full album Prophecy Of Heavens was released containing the four tracks from the two previous singles and seven more original compositions. At this time 2A resides in London where he continues to work on new projects and an EP is expected to come out in the near future.
