THE '2 DAYS LATER' 48HR HORROR SHORTS COMPETITION & FESTIVAL 2007
ENTER IF YOU DARE...
**New Website**
The premise is simple: download the entry form from www.2dayslater.co.uk, then grab a camera, some friends, and a bottle of ketchup, and go out and produce a mini horror masterpiece in just 48 hours (2 Days Later - geddit? Danny Boyle would be so proud!) Of course, we have a cunning plan to make sure you do just that, but that's all part of the fun - we'll keep it mysterious and let you find out for yourselves when you download the brief. Oh, and you do need to be over 16 to enter.
12 films will be shortlisted.
Judging is by both a panel of film industry professionals and also by audience vote.
2 Days Later was concocted in 2003 over a social drink between Mick and Chris of Beeping Bush Productions, a community arts and digital media company based in Thanet, and Jean from Close-Up Film, a national film website, based in canterbury. Their mutual interest in grassroots filmmaking, encouragement of new and emergent filmmakers, and a healthy sense of fun resulted in 2 Days Later. Now, five years later, the competition attracts entries from all over the world.
In the June 2007 edition of Digital Video Magazine, 2 Days Later was ranked in the top five events for new filmmakers in the UK.
In 2006, 2 Days Later became a fully-fledged film festival when a series of filmmaking workshops was introduced to the event.
2007 saw a series of four workshops taking place, plus a lecture on horror, and horror screenings.
The Screenings & Awards 2007 took place on Saturday 27th October at the Theatre Royal, Margate, the second oldest theatre in the country and one of the most haunted!
This year's winners were the first recipients of the HorrOscars, each a unique, individual trophy designed and created by BA Fine Art students at Canterbury Christ Church University.
