"In the pantheon of Irish/English folk groups they don’t come much more revered than Flook" Irish Post
"In the US, their reputation borders on the Messianic ..." Irish Music Magazine
Award winning instrumental tune-smiths, playing music brave in exploration and classy in execution.
Flook has always been celebrated for their organic, fluid and brilliantly innovative all-acoustic fusion of Irish folklore with modern and trans-national rhythms. What really makes them extraordinary, however, is the way their sound emerges from a sixth sense, allowing band members to communicate on a subliminal level. There is an uncanny interplay between the players; each seems to respond not only to what is presently being heard but also to as-yet-unvoiced impulses. Even when performing sets they have interpreted many times before, inspiration leaps between them like multi-hued tongues of flame and long-familiar tunes become utterly transformed, fresh and new.
"A sensational live act.... in the front rank of the innovators" The Rough Guide to Irish Music

"Head and shoulders above the rest... Magnificent" The Irish Times
"Four brilliant musicians. Four times as much brilliant music" Time Out
"Never have I seen so many people so completely and utterly spellbound...the most magical of experiences" The Irish Post
"If Flook is NOT familiar to you, where in God’s name have you been?" LiveIreland.com

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
