The duo In Between consists of Finnish musicians who have settled permanently in Denmark. Heidi Nuutilainen (double bass) and Teresa Alasalmi (violin) explore the cultures and music of their two home countries, jazzing up old folk music in modern interpretation. Their vivid performance and the elemental power of music make the audience shake their butts!
De er finske musikere, der tilfældigt passerede Danmark på deres vej, og faldt for det lille land med både metropol og maguritruter. Nu er de bosat i Vanløse, og klar til at indtage de danske musikscener.
Denne duo bestående af konservatorieuddannede Heidi Nuutilainen på kontrabas/sang, og Teresa Alasalmi på violin udfordrer spændingsfeltet mellem genre, kulturer, og musikalske udtryk.
En smeltedigel hvor det moderne eksperimenterende og det traditionelle folkemusik, swing og virtuositet blandes sammen og tilsættes et solidt stænk spilleglæde. Publikum leverer i denne sammenhæng gulvtrampet og mærker glæden og urkraften i musikken.
Heidi Nuutilainen:
Graduated as a musician at Sibelius Academy in Finland and at Carl Nielsen Academy in Denmark, where she studied with Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and Bo Stief.
Works with several musical ensembles, i.a. at Odense Internationale Musikteater (OIM) and "Pirjo ja Kaveri" -show in Finland.
Teresa Alasalmi:
Graduated as a violin teacher at Conservatory of Central Ostrobothnia, Finland.
Teaches the violin in and around Copenhagen. Experienced musician in theater projects.

Heidi, Odense International Music Theater bought it and I can keep it as long as I want. But that also means that I have to learn how to play it for our shows. They actually bought it because it would look cool on stage. Then they thought "Who could we get to PLAY it? Hey let's ask Guy!" I've used it in 4 shows up to now..... And I'm glad you recognized my moustache. Now we'll always know where each other is! Later - Guy
Heidi Heidi Heidi HO! How the heck did you find me? I hope none of your friends click on my page and get confused by hearing me scat sing over Giant Steps. Not exactly Folk music but something I can do. :) I'll have to listen again to your stuff. What I heard sounded good. Maybe you can teach me some bowing technique for my bass. You got a nice sound.
