General

We love dance - social, ballet, contemporary, modern... this is French pantomimist and ventriloquist, Jerome Murat:
....
We also love music, films, reading, fine art (the expressionists and surrealists, and particularly scuplture and the impressionists) our cockatiel, Shakespeare, and good stand up comedy... we also love the guys at JibJab. "This Land" is from the 2004 election: .... (More JibJab below...)

We love to hang outside - reading or doing creative writing together (we finished a screenplay for a teenage, coming-of-age comedy this fall - out for edits and then off to an agent). Some evenings and weekends, we head into the studio or living room to work on choreography. For getaways, we hunt waterfalls in the north Georgia mountains, or park by a creek or river. We love road trips - and traveling. We're endlessly fascinated with issues of humanity: social, political, philosophical. Even The Blue Men can wax politi-sophical... sort of:

WELL WORTH WATCHING Wafa Sultan, an Arab-American psychologist (and secular humanist) living in L.A., makes a powerful argument during an heroic appearance on Al Jazeera television in February 2006:
....

We also love aerobatic shows. This is a loop of Kirby Chambliss, arguably the best stunt pilot in the world: ....

And Scott hopes to be long distance road speed skating and cycling again soon...

This is "Welcome to the Jungle" - Lucas Brunelle's classic video of an informal bicycle jam race in heavy New York traffic (vehicle and pedestrian)... this is beyond insane: ......
{Skating rush hour was never like this...}

Inline speed skating and videos are on the MySpace pages Scott maintains for Athens-to-Atlanta, the 87-mile A2A Ultra Marathon Road Skate that Scott co-organized (and skated) for several years: MySpace.com/AthensToAtlanta and the A2A Group at Groups.MySpace.com/AthensToAtlanta.

Music Bach, Beethoven, Bernstein, Gershwin, Phillip Glass, Mozart, Michael Nyman, Astor Piazzolla, Prokofiev, Puccini, Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky and Wagner.

(Rock, alternative, acoustic and jazz, etc. follow the video...)

Pas de Duex from Jirí Kylian's "Petit Mort": ....

10000 Maniacs, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Tony Bennet, Bare Naked Ladies, Beach Boys, The Beatles, David Bowie, Blind Boys of Alabama, “Brudda Iz” – Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, Buena Vista Social Club, Jimmy Buffett, , Traci Chapman, Digable Cat, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Eric Clapton, Cold Play, Dido, Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Garden State (soundtrack), Benny Goodman, Guns and Roses, Ben Harper, Colin Hay, Billy Holiday, Indigo Girls, Kieth Jarrett, Billy Joel, Elton John, Robert Johnson, Scott Joplin... sweet music to shoot some pool to (woo-hoo: worth it, we promise) -

....

Leo Kotke, Lenny Kravitz, Annie Lennox, The Listening (was Rock 'n Roll Worship Circus), Moby, Wynton Marsalis, John Mayer, Natalie Merchant, George Michael, Alanis Morissette, Willie Nelson, Not Our Own, Phil Oches, Prince, John Prine, REM, Lou Reed, Rusted Root, Paul Simon, Frank Sinatra, Cat Stephens, Sting, Phoebe Snow, Sound Garden, Toadies, U2, Tom Waits, Bill Withers, Howlin' Wolf, Stevie Wonder and - Ladies and Gentlemen - The Rolling Stones.

Brian Enos' "The Long Road Home" - Houston Ballet: ....

Movies We love this 1921 classic animation, The Centaurs by Winsor McCay:

Our most favorite:
African Queen, Aguirre, Alien, All About Eve, All That Jazz, All the Presidents Men, Altered States, Always, Amadeus, American Beauty, Amistad, Apocalypse Now, Apollo 13, As Good as it Gets, The Aviator, Awakenings, Bad Influence, Batman Begins, The Bear, A Beautiful Mind, Beetlejuice, Being There, Belle de Jour, Benny and Joon, The Big Chill, Billy Elliot, The Birds, The Black Stallion, Bloodsport, Bonnie and Clyde, The Bounty, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Breaking Away, Bridge on the River Kwai, Brokeback Mountain, La Cage au Folle, The Caine Mutiny, Capote, Casablanca, Cast Away, The China Syndrome, Citizen Cain, Chinatown, Coal Miner's Daughter, Coming Home, The Constant Gardner, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Cries and Whispers, The Conversation, The Christmas Story, City of Angels, City Slickers, Cool Runnings, Crash, Cyrano de Bergerac, Dangerous Liaisons, Das Boot, Dark Victory (1939), Day for Night, Dead Calm, Dead Poets Society, DeathTrap, The Deer Hunter, Deliverance, Dr. Strangelove, Dr. Zhivago, Easy Rider, The Elephant Man, Elizabeth, Elizabethtown, Empire of the Sun, Enemy at the Gates, Equus, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Fantastic Planet, Farewell My Concubine, Fargo, La Femme Nikita, A Few Good Men, Fightclub, Finding Neverland, The Fisher King, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The French Connection, Frequency, Frenzy, The Full Monty, Gandhi, Gangs of New York, Garden State, Gattaca, Get Out Your Handkerchiefs, Ghost, Gladiator, Glory, The Godfather I & II (NOT III), Goodfellas, Good Will Hunting, Great Expectations, Groundhog Day, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?, Harold and Maude, Harry Potter (series), Hero, A History of Violence, Hoffa, House of Flying Daggers, Hunt for Red October, Hustle and Flow, Kundun, The Illusionist, The Illustrated Man, Immortal Beloved...

About me:

Scott is a photographer and photoeditor with Keiko Guest Photography in Atlanta - focusing on stage work, dance studios and weddings, but also family and wedding gown portraits, and headshots. For the past two years, Scott has been photographing Kristy in the mountains and on the coastlines and rivers of Florida, South Carolina, Georgia and Costa Rica - we hope you enjoy these. A collection of nearly one hundred of these photos is available as a book of outdoor dance photography...

Kristy is a ballet teacher and choreographer based in Atlanta, Georgia. She has choreographed sixty pieces that have been performed by eighteen companies in eight states, including three SERBA commissions and one for nationals in Pittsburgh, three works for the professional Georgia Ballet, and three new full-length works: Nutcracker, Swan Lake (with Act II after Lev Ivanov) and a new Aladdin for next season.

Dance Quotes and Videos! We've been selectively collecting inspirational and humorous dance quotes for years and decided to share them... we now have 900+ quotes, plus 60 select videos:

We celebrated our tenth Thanksgiving in 2008, and look forward to our 10th wedding anniversary!

Scott & Kristy Nilsson - 2Nilssons.com

Originally: Kristy - Houston; Scott - Philly countryside, then NY suburb. Now we live in Atlanta (Buckhead).

Kristy is a ballet choreographer and teacher; Kristy teaches at several good schools in and around Atlanta and has set two dozen pieces performed by ten companies in six states (and she loves it). Kristy attended HSPVA and OU - and danced with Atlanta Ballet and Charleston Ballet. Her LinkedIn profile is at linkedin.com/in/kristynilsson

Eddie Uehara - a filmmaker in Las Vegas - created two, short inspirational Dance Quotes videos with some our favorite quotes and selected two of Kristy's quotes for inclusion... how cool is that?! Eddie's "Dance Quotes" (his "Dance is Life" is further down...):..

Scott was also a dancer (Indiana University, New York University, Ann Brodie's Columbia City Ballet, Indianapolis Ballet and briefly with Atlanta Ballet and pickup companies in New York before an untimely end to his dance career); he retired from managing a nonprofit senior ministry and now loves working as a photoeditor and photographer for Keiko Guest Photography in Atlanta; he also enjoys contract work and providing pro-bono consulting and writing services to select non-profits and charitable organizations. Scott's LinkedIn profile is at linkedin.com/in/scottnilsson

Joseph Phillips, Gold Medalist at the the Youth American Grand Prix in New York, the Prague International Ballet Competition and the USA International Ballet Competition. His performance from La Bayadere for the Opening Gala of the 2006 USA-IBC:

Joseph trained at Ann Brodie’s Carolina Ballet, at NCSA, SAB, ABT and with Gyula Pandi. He dances with San Francisco Ballet and as a guest-principal internationally.

Last year, we co-authored a coming-of-age comedy screenplay that is being well-received by people in the film industry. We are working on our next script, as well as other projects.

"Butterfly Lovers" This famous Chinese New Year..s gala performance requires strong ballet, pointe skills, acrobatic and hand-balancing skills. She does things that seem impossible. A future face of ballet?

Smatterings of our interests are scattered about MySpace here - and if you really must know more, our bios and a bazillion photos and miscellaneous other things can be found on our website at 2Nilssons.com: knock yourself out. Magnificent Svetlana Zakharova and Igor Zelenskij, in "La Corsaire"

We also maintain pages at Zaadz... sort of MySpace with a social conscience. Kristy's is at: kristynilsson.zaadz.com
And Scott's is at: scottnilsson.zaadz.com

This is Daniil Simkin in "Les Bourgeois"

After volunteering and co-organizing Athens-to-Atlanta (a2a.net), the international road skating ultra marathon, for several years - and founding the nonprofit Georgia International Road Skating Association (GIRSA.org) in 2002 - Scott again volunteers to support A2A and maintains web pages for 2,700+ international skaters at (myspace.com/athenstoatlanta) with the A2A Group at (groups.myspace.com/athenstoatlanta).
