Raw Deal's first ever live show, at the Rooftop Poetry Club, Buffalo, October 26th, 2007: "Rhyme Anymore", a brand new song which we'd just finished writing a couple of days before, and which Brian was hearing for the first time. Gubb on rhythm guitar and vocals, Sam on lead guitar, Jack Feuerstein on harmony vocals. Video courtesy of David Landrey.
Song lyrics by Brian Lampkin, music by Gubb Cooper, played by Gubb (acoustic guitars, harmonica and vocals) and Gubb's now 19-year-old son, Sam (bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards and harmony vocals). These are rough cuts, recorded in Gubb and Sam's living room, with some very obvious screw-ups and imperfections. One day, perhaps, we'll get around to recording these songs a bit more professionally (though really, Raw Deal is more of a songwriting project than a band). See our first blog entry (above) for a little on the history of Raw Deal (hit "View All Blog Entries" and scroll down). For more on Brian's writing, check out his blog, "Sleeping Through Sirens" (via our "Band Website"). And check out some of Sam's own original songs via the Sam Berman-Cooper link in our "Friend Space" (below) -- his solo CD, "Measure of Doubt" (released under his stage name, Sam Gillam), is available through CD Baby.
I know we all get busy, but I wanted to stop by and say hello! Hope your summer was a pleasant one and look forward to hearing from you anytime! Take care and talk soon- Spady
This month we mostly have Catie Curtis (with a Richard Thompson cover), Lindsay Fuller and The Cheap Dates (and who amongst us isn't?), Josh Fix with a track from the well-titled album This Town Is Starting To Make Me Angry and the rather lovely Red Rooster.

Hi Gubb. Hope you're doing well. I've been MIA locked in the studio and not getting in touch enough but wanted to let you know my cd is done. I have a label and they're releasing a single right away so I put a couple tunes up if you're interested. There's a new version of Lone Bird. Hope you like it. Cheers

Hey there Gubb, Brian and Sam. I'm liking what I'm hearing from you guys. That long distance song writing collaboration thing seems to work really well. Greetings from outside of Tarboro, NC -Rev'D Dr Long; Ambassador of Edgecombe County, NC and local UFO expert
Hey Gubb, long time my friend. Hope all is great with you. I put up a new quiet acoustic tune if you want to check it out. It may even have been influenced by your fine self. It's called To Serve Your Pleasure. Hope you like it. Cheers
