Having been born in a gas station on Route 66 in Oklahoma one would wonder how I got here. I remember pumping gas
in a new black cadillac when I was ten and the owner, who feared I would get gas on the paint, nervously talked to
me about his visit to Las Vegas. He said he had seen Nancy Wilson and Frank Sinatra and loved seeing the lights. I knew then I would someday have to see it.
I was here first in 1970 for a 2 week visit and then moved here permanently in 1982. I had gotten a real estate brokers license before I came here so I started selling here immediately. My husband, Paul Nowka also from OK,
came here to work at the Nevada Nuclear Test site and
he is still out there, "No he doesn't glow in the dark".
I am thankful I was married when I moved here because
I have watched many people get ruined by Las Vegas. I always told buyers I worked with from out of town that there is only two ways to live in Las Vegas, either you control yourself here or the town controls you. TRUE..!
I have two sons, Jason born in 1974, and Kevin born in 1979. They really grew up fast here and when Kevin visited OK at age 16 he borrowed his Grandpa's car. When Kevin got home at 2:00am Grandpa was worried sick and Kevin explained that he had to drive 90 miles to Okla. City to find something to do. Jason played a piano solo in a 6th grade talent contest and my husband nearly fainted when he saw some of the girls perform. They were very mature looking and their dancing was professional. Paul said he didn't think he could have ever graduated had girls in his 6th grade class looked like the girls in Jason's class.
Who I'd like to meet: His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Leonard Cohen, Drew Barrymore, Jessica Lange, Morgan Freeman, Robert Downey Jr. and an alien, if they exist, to find out where we stand on the food chain of the universe.

I usually never discuss my politics but I cannot resist
this joke because of the way our government is dealing
with immigration. I say, "If our government wants
to learn from experience about immigration problems,
why don't they ask the NATIVE AMERICANS what they
would do"?

Are you feeling a little low? Do you want to party?
Then you MUST PLAY this video of Elvin Bishop and
Johnny V. These guys are some of the finest musicians
you will ever see perform. They will MAKE YOU have
a good time because they are. They even start dancing
during the piano solo, it does not get any better
than this folks..!!

This is a relief I sculpted a few years back
for my 3-D design class. The assignment was to design something from
the park and/or its surroundings. Since we were right there on the lake
front in Grant park, this was an obvious choice for me. ~S
