The CD mountains gather dust above the vinyl foot hills. Everything comes off the computer now, various mp3s, mashups and bootleg remixes, (half without any band or title info at all) and "you send it" links proffered by Indie/alt/70's Disco/Pre Punk/Post Punk/Great American Songbook/Electronica/(old)Country/New Wave afficionado friends who must just fuck off all day at work. Whatever Stereogum and Pitchfork tell me to like. My last four down loads were: Amy Winehouse, "Rehab"; Archie Bell and the Drells "Tighten Up"; Peaches, "Hanky Code"; The Shins "Turn Me On"; a Daft Punk remix of Fischerspooner's "Emerge"; and the theme song from T.V.'s "Dark Shadows". Is that helpfull?Movies
I've seen all the classics ( on actual film), and attend independent/animation/foreign/gay film fests. Don't get to the Mega Cineplex much. When I'm somewhere with cable, I watch the Spanish dubbed ones on the T.V., and see if I can figure out the plots. Some favorites:"Metropolis"; "Days ofHeaven"; "Laurence of Arabia"; "Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill"; "Gray Gardens"; "Tree's Lounge"; "Godzilla, King of the Monsters"; "Inside the Doll House".Television
Books
Stacked by the toilet now: A Robert Mapplethorpe monograph; a ratty paperback of Holleran's "Dancer From the Dance", a Peggy Guggenheim biography, Butt magazine, some 1980's issues of Art in America, a gorgeous Taschen book of James Bidgood photographs (which I should really take better care of), a tome on the political and social meaning of the American Greek Revival period; and a Time Out Guide to London. I like glossy magazines.

About me:
**************************************************************************** Subjective claims: responsible hedonist, wry, opinionated, engaging, fairly butch* for a short art homo who knows color names. **************************************************************************** Usually covered with paint and sawdust (cleans up well), trash picker, people watcher, instigator. I'm avidly interested in old scooters and motorcycles, architecture, design generally, urban studies and history, and semi-seriously collect some 20th century objects. I like great beer(small batch breweries), real style (not logo worship), clever/ difficult children, and dogs you can wrestle. I stop to read historical markers. Though kind of an ageing semi-hipster, I'm an actual grown-up, too. I can order wine, balance a budget, tie a bow tie without looking, and carve a turkey. **************************************************************************** I started wearing second hand 70's clothes handed down from two older, larger brothers back in the 80's. It wasn't hip or ironic. But just look at me now... **************************************************************************** YES; Sinatra on Capitol, Honda CBs, old convertibles, ethiopian yergacheef, cask conditioned, Fringe Fest, David Sedaris, trendy sceney chaos(sometimes). NO; Streisand, SUVs in the city, hazelnut flavored, ice brewed, River Jam, Adam Sandler, trendy sceney chaos(other times). **************************************************************************** Um, I've noticed a tendency to ask for an "add friend" without having made any other contact whatsoever. None. This strikes me as weirdly impersonal. Now I've started doing it too. Sometimes. Stupid MySpace. So I'll probably add you, definately if I already know you, and if I think you and/or the majority of your friends are particularly fuckable. **************************************************************************** * "butch" is one of those self canceling words - if you use it, then you're probably not. ;-)Who I'd like to meet:
