About me:

My husband and I have four children. The youngest, Nick was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He had his first heart surgery at Children’s Healthcare at Egleston in Atlanta when he was five days old with only had a fifty/fifty percent chance of survival. Nick had his second heart surgery at three months old and remained on the respirator for seven weeks before finally coming off. Just after Nick’s first birthday he had another heart surgery and was transplant two weeks before his second birthday. The first year after transplant was difficult, but as the years have gone by life has gotten smoother. Today Nick is eighteen years old and sixteen years out from transplant. He is a senior in high school. He manages the football team and plays on the school tennis team. He will be attending college next year and hopes to major in Sports Management. Our family lives in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I am a substitute teacher by day and a new author during the rest of the time. My first book “Nick’s New Heart” about Nick’s experiences and how our family coped will be in bookstores this summer. Click to my website ..........
