    What I like
    - spending time with awesome friends & fam
    - my 3 well loved kitties
    - sitting on my ass researching random or specific crap all day
    - playing outside- rain, snow or sun
    - working with my hands, getting dirty
    - laughing hysterically
    - walking, hiking, biking, working out
    - reading and writing
    - sensuality, hedonism
    - invigorating conversations
    - photography adventures
    - snark
    - Home Theater with P/A quality
    - watching Rugby
    - wandering around Manhattan
    - food
    - all things techy, nerdy, geeky
    - teas and strong coffee
    - soul tingling connection
    - destination-less drives
    - eating healthy (more often than not)
    - cookies mMmMmMmmMm
    - bath soaks, candles, fluffy pillows
    - standing and listening to absolute stillness in a snowy forest

    I hate cigarettes.

Always seeking something that ignites my passion and sense of accomplishment.

  • Music

I need music everyday, preferably uncompressed.
    - Classical, Jazz, Electronica, Techno, Trance, Punk, Darkwave, Down-Tempo, Industrial, Goth, Ambient and a little bit of everything else. As with most audiophiles, my taste is eclectic and discerning. I love discovering new music or being reintroduced to something old!

Anything that I can feel.. stir my emotions, mood, thoughts and I will be sure to be pleased.
  • Movies

I like to laugh, think, be inspired and/or feel warm and fuzzy. Movies to have conversations about. I could list all of the intellectual and pseudo-intellectual films that I have seen and highly enjoy and appreciate, but when it comes down to it, I often select a nice escapist film. Let it make me laugh, snicker, snort or fell all warm and fuzzy! Animation, Adventure and Sci-fi movies are awesome! (on blu-ray, of course!)I'll pass on horror, gore, girl nude-y stuff and the overly cliche. Give me something refreshing- independent/foreign films, anything from the Criterion Collection.

  • Television

I don't have cable nor do I need it. TV rots the brain, but I dig it on occasion.
    - Law and Order
    - Nova Science NOW
    - Comedy Central (Colbert Report, The Daily Show,South Park, Reno 911, Stand-up- I'd get cable just for this channel)
    - Top Chef
    - The Biggest Loser
    - old sitcoms in syndication (Roseanne, Just Shoot Me, Frasier, King of Queens, George Lopez, Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld, Sabrina, Will & Grace, etc)
    - Gilmore Girls
    - Discovery Channel is so cool
    - Food Network shows and challenges

I pretty much refuse to watch the "news"; I mean, I like to know whats going on, but so much of it is sensationalized..exploiting our tragedy..playing on our fears, etc. "one thing to be informed, another to be inundated by it". Seriously, I tend to be too sensitive to take in all the drama and negativity on a daily basis. People fill me in, and that's plenty. But not to sound totally ignorant, I read the headlines and other pertinent news.
  • Books

    Mmmm I'm a Book-Eater *nom nom*!!
Will read anything, really. Fiction, non-fiction from any genre. ESPECIALLY if it makes me laugh (this means you, Jen Lancaster- keep 'em coming!).
    - Memoirs
    - Science
    - Psychology
    - Nutrition, Health
    - Quantum Physics
    - Leadership/Motivational/Inspirational thinking and being
    - World Religions, Spirituality, Taoism
    - Philosophy
    - Psychological & spiritual thrillers
    - Classic literature
    - Science fiction
I read daily; I love my books and usually have a few going at once on various topics. I don't carry a purse, I carry a bag of books (and a tube of lip gloss)

    *ex of authors in general:
Ernest Hemmingway, Alexandre Dumas, Chuck Palaniuk, Toni Morrison, Kurt Vonnegut, Margaret Wheatley, Paulo Coelho, Naomi Wolf, Philip K. Dick, Dan Brown, Richard Laymon, Peter Straub, Paco Ahlgren, Jennifer Lancaster, David Sedaris, Augusten Burroughs, Octavia Butler, Carl Sagan, Robert Gilmore, Harry Potter books, Madeline L'engle.

Finding new authors and/or topics is really exciting to me, so I am always open to suggestions!

*Magazines: Scientific American, Scientific American Mind, Discover, Entrepreneur, National Geographic Adventure, The Week, Home Theater, Fast Company, Natural Health. The Robb Report.
There isn't much that I won't read. Make me think, make me laugh, make me wonder..

Into books? Check out my SHELFARI.com virtual book shelf below :)

My animated tortoise, Jaxx. Also, introducing my newly 'adopted' Llama, Oliver. I'm a sucker for animals- real or make believe. Go ahead and play with them, you know you want to, hehe :D

    ..
    adopt your own virtual pet!

    .. ..

    I just love these..

"I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth will I apply all my efforts to become the highest mountain of all, and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy."- Og Mandino (1923-1996)

"Cherish your visions. Cherish your ideals. Cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment; of these, if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built." ~James Allen (1855-1942)

  • Heroes

You, if you desire to help make the world a better and peaceful place. You believe in yourself and the abilities of others. You are grateful and excited for what you have, rather than what you lack. You dance against the rhythm of society for the betterment of yourself, finding a special niche as determined by who you are not what you are expected to be. You can remind me to keep doing the same. You love yourself..life..friends/family..animals..
Can make me laugh so hard I choke.
    LOVE! PEACE! LAUGHTER!

About me:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"True love cannot be found where it truly does not exist, nor can it be hidden where it truly does."

"Yes, everybody's dying to be someone else, but I'll live my life if it kills me." ~e.e. cummings

"Highly developed spirits often encounter resistance from mediocre minds" - Albert Einstein.

"At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want."- lao tzu

And so it goes.. For me, a lot of changes, inside and out, on the horizon;all the right things are coming together, have come together, unfolding a newer, bigger, brighter picture.

I'm girly but not prissy; a lady.. but not always. Both very chilled out and occasionally profound and intense. Comfortable and confident with who I am, where I am at and where I am going, but have my 'moments' too, of course.
I can find/create humor in anything. Laughter is essential! Silly, discerning, shy, yet not easily intimidated. Fluffy. Humble, deeply loving, romantic, sarcastic and joyful. Sensitive yet aloof. Feminist. Misogynist.I swear yet speak kind words. Scratching your head yet?
Always learning.. always unlearning..passions about things ebbs and flows. Yet underlying current remains the same. Easily amused, I am very playful and child-like, but not childish. Not sure what kind of picture I am painting here or where it falls on the good/bad/hot/not/yes/no/love her/hate her continuum but I'd prefer to lay out more diverse truth than single out one positive facet. I'm cool with whatever you come up with :)
I gravitate towards kind, positive, witty people. Real thinkers. Animal lovers. People who enjoy (and respect) nature. People who do their own thing. Multidimensional conversationalists.

Who I'd like to meet:

I'm a friendly writer who enjoys conversations with most people. Net working is good! So go ahead and say hello, drop me a message, tell me a joke- you know what to do! :) Hook-up offers, USA citizenship attempts, spam/skanky video pollution will not be tolerated.

Something to think about .. In terms of dating, relationships and what not, do you know what it is that lights you up inside, either through past experience or a heightened sense of knowing yourself? Whether you are actively looking or being idle, there are people that come along that are interesting, intelligent and attractive creatures. You want to know more. They ignite an interest, a probing curiosity, something that demands exploration. Perhaps you know what I mean when I say that although there are a few exciting 'connection points' that bring you together, you realize that it isn't enough for you. This isn't a judgment on that person, it is about you being fair and honest to yourself and to that other person, as much pain and confusion it may inflict on both of you. Trust me, it isn't easy being on either side. And both of you usually come to that conclusion intellectually well before you get there emotionally, the last being what keeps you going longer than what should have been. And so you sense, sometimes with great sadness, that the situation is, at best, "for-now", not "for-ever". Therefore, you must part ways, even though that person and many people before them would have been satisfied, happy even, to have you in their life. But you need more. You need the connection points that reach deep to your core, to where you are, to who you are.

I need more. I. need. more.

I exist deeply and richly. A lifetime of seeing beyond the obvious, of seeing how everything relates to something else, of understanding to a great degree of who I am and what lights me up inside. Vacillating in my contentment in life, I strive for quality experiences. I've always considered the idea of sharing my life with someone else as a bonus to my happiness, not a prerequisite. With this, I've done my own thing, I have lived my thoughts, followed my convictions, lived with authenticity, continually learning, continually 'unlearning' and striving for excellence. I don't always do things right, but I try to do the right thing. And so, when you do encounter someone who matches your core, who is both teacher and student and where being yourself comes as natural as breathing, dont deny it. Embrace it. Let go of fear.. and pride..and the past..it will only serve as a road block to going forward, to getting to where you always knew you wanted to be, and that place is "home". Does that make sense to you? Do you know what I mean??? Please, share your thoughts...

Happy Summer to you too Carey! It's going by too fast! Hard to believe it's almost the Fourth of July already. Dusty and Salzee love summer! We play outside a lot during the summer. They're actually not my dogs -- they're my mom and dad's neighbor's dogs. I live in an apartment that doesn't allow pets. I hang out at my parents a lot so I can spend time with my loyal, furry buddies. I love them to pieces!

I would love to, however, I told day girl I would cover noon-4 for her.  :-..  I'm going to ask weekend girl if she would want to take the hours (because that was the original plan, but she never returned her phone call). I will let you know either way. There's plenty of daylight after 4, and I can come down and use the trip to drop Hailey at my rents b/c the concert is on Sat.  :)

Loving that comment! ha ha!!! Want to get together on Friday, but need to find out if the girls in my group want to meet that day to work on yet another project. UGH. SO over school this semester, but have a paper, 2 reflections, and a portfolio to complete just for one class and a lesson plan and a project for another. Man, I am ready to just curl up and die!!! Almost over!!!! I cannot WAIT, after this semester from hell!!!]

ANYWAY, I am at the school I shadow at (in the Falls) till 12 this Friday, and I will let you know if I end up not having to meet them. You let me know if you're free. ;) If you want to hang, I can come down to your house or we can meet up at Orange Cat or something. :)
