Initially, I was under the impression that the cavern had an end to it. However, after days of thirsty travel I have begun to doubt that proposition. I abandoned my pickaxe on Wenesday the 14th; now every pound counts. As I tread deeper and deeper into the cave I begin to realize that the harmonious ringing sound I had previously thought to be a trick of the wind is actually the ringing of 30,000 celestial bells connected to 30,000 celestial telephones which do nothing but ring ring and ring until you begin to feel like there has always been a ringing present, and you can't remember what it might be like to not hear the ringing, and in fact fear the absense of it to the point where when it finally stops you sit down on the ground and take off your shoes. Sitting on the ground, unshod, I am struck dumb by the fact that once again, though I had intended to continue walking, I am in fact sitting on the ground shoeless. At the very least, this provides me with a good opportunity to remove the small stone that has been bothering me for I don't know how long. I take the stone out and inspect it. As I bring it close to my face I realize that written on the surface of it is the code to get thirty lives in Contra. The code reads as follows: Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start. Having revitalized myself with thirty new lives, we all start off in different directions, pursuing thirty different goals, each more magnificent than the previous
