Mostly it's me, Tim Scott! I play guitar and a bit of bass and use Cubase on a PC to make the funkiest noises I can... I've collaborated recently with the multi-skilled and beautiful-voiced Niamh McCartney (on Season of Change) and I'm currently working with a vocalist and writer who blows me away every time she comes through with vocals on one of my tracks. Her name's Shuane Odunaiya - check out Conspiracy Theory and Lazy above and don't say I didn't warn you!!!

I started off playing my Fender Strat in 'dodgy rock' bands... a chance encounter with 'Mother Earth' on ITV's Chart Show (remember that?) led me to check out Acid Jazz records. I discovered Corduroy, JTQ, Vibraphonic and the amazing Totally Wired compilations that featured artists like Terry Callier alongside the Brand New Heavies... started to turn my pentatonic guitar solos to 9th chords.
I discovered Acid Jazz was run by Eddie Piller and Gilles Peterson and by sheer coincidence noticed that Gilles Peterson did a show on Kiss FM. I tuned in to what I reckon must have been the golden age of radio - Sunday night went:
- Joey Jay
- Patrick Forge
- Gilles Peterson
- Bob Jones
That was my musical ears being opened.... I'd always dismissed electronic music but Gilles and Patrick 'joining the dots' made it all make sense. From crazy spiritual jazz to Nu Era, Vangelis to Alex Reece, Mo Wax to Suburban Base.... happy days!
At the same time I was doing music 'A' level and experimenting with the school's 4 track recorder, using it and my cd player to loop up beats and make little instrumental tracks... and that's really how it all started!! Now I owe the biggest respect to artists like Mark de Clive Lowe, the Bugz in the Attic crew (Seiji's "Loose Lips" completely blew me away the first time I heard it), Maddslinky/Zed Bias, Jonny Miller, K15, Chris Barker, Andy Ash, 4hero, Soil n' Pimp Sessions, OK_Ma, Landslide, Waajeed, Si Murray, Lanu, Kidkanevil... I could go on and on but I won't!

Hopefully you can hear a bit of everything I love and a lot of me in there...
Tim Scott Bio:
After immersing himself in the burgeoning dance scene in London during the early nineties, Tim Scott took his DJing and musical skills with him to Liverpool in 1994 where he continued to spin music. He enjoyed plenty of gigs during this time; however his record collection then lay dormant for a few years before picking up where he left off again in 2002.
Re-inspired by the slow emergence of the nu-jazz and broken beat scene that was fusing together the genres he loved, Tim's style is to join the dots between different sounds in an exciting fashion. Heavily influenced by the sounds he heard as a regular at the then new Thats How It Is night in London with Gilles Peterson, James Lavelle and Ben Wilcox and dancing the night away at the Blue Note, Tim was immediately attracted to left of centre dance music and the acid jazz scene.
Today his musical taste is as broad as ever, and his ability to juxtapose genres is his trump card, best heard in his respected '2types' show on leading internet radio station Samurai FM (listen here!),, which has also featured interviews with musical heavyweight guests such as Platinum Pied Pipers, Domu, Mark de Clive Lowe and Alex Attias. He is also a resident at Liverpool's excellent Gold in the Shade night at the Magnet.
DJing isn't the sole focus of Tim's creativity; he has been making music of one sort or another since a neighbour first lent him a guitar at the tender age of 6. Having discovering the joys of Cubase on his schools Atari ST, he has produced computer-based music inspired by the many diverse influences that also come through in his DJ sets. Tim's productions are unpredictable and range from soulful slow burners to all out dancefloor destroyers.
Fresh from a number of remix projects including a contribution to the Filewile Remixed double LP for Switzerland's leading laptop pioneers Filewile and remixing Steve Austin for Liverpool's Sick Trumpet label, Tim is now building a set of original beats which have been getting support from tastemakers such as Simon Harrison, Benji B and Alex Attias. As well as his current release on Jonny Miller's Jus' Listen label, tracks will soon available on Blue City Records and more on Sick Trumpet. His musical taste is as broad as ever, so whether he's DJing or in the studio, watch out for thumping basslines and jazzy antics.
P.S. I'm always on the look out for fresh music for my 2types show - send me a message if you think I'll like yours! If you like what you hear on my profile, I'm also usually up for musical collaborations or remix work... again, drop me a line!
Thanks for the support to... (follow the links!):
1) Season Of Change-Instrumental mix
2) Season Of Change-vocal mix Feat. Neve
3) Slow Burner
The Universal Vibes label steams ahead with the second release, from Liverpool beatsmith Tim Scott. 'Season Of Change' is a warm, beat driven vocal piece, call some like to call it broken beat, some like to call it leftfield, we just like to call it quality soulful music. Featuring the vocal talents of Neve, over Tim's bumping beats, it's a warm and soulful sound that's aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Appearing here in both vocal and instrumental versions ...
The song is backed up with 'Slowburner' a midtempo, disco infused bomb featuring a live bass and filtered guitars and effects, the track bounces along on a solid chunky groove that bumps and swings. The track has a certain scando/Balearic flavour that will sit well in a variety of DJ sets
PRESS RELEASE: Liverpool based DJ, producer and broadcaster Tim Scott is fast becoming a name to watch on the multi-genre, soulful underground scene. Tim's tracks, remixes and re-edits have been furiously changing hands during 2006 while his popular 2types show on seminal internet radio station Samurai FM has gone from strength to strength.
Tim Scott is the first guest artist to submit exclusive music to Jonny Miller's strictly digital Jus'Listen label, dropping sharp nu-jazz tracks produced and mixed at Manchester's Phuture Lounge under the guidance of Dave Jones AKA Zed Bias. Backing up the two fresh cuts is Jonny Miller's remix of 'Chemistry' another Tim Scott production, finally getting an official release after causing a buzz earlier in the year with tastemakers like Bugz In The Attic and 1Xtra's Benji B.

Society is afraid of your wild natures afraid of your naturalness, so from the very beginning, it starts cutting your wings.
And the most dangerous possibility in you is the possibility of love.
Because if there is love, you can go even against the whole world.
If you know your being, there is no question of becoming.
All that you could have ever imagined to become you already are.
You are gods who have forgotten who they are.
You are emperors who have fallen asleep and are dreaming that they have become beggars.
Now beggars are trying to become emperors, in dreams they are making great efforts to become emperors, and all that is needed is to wake up! You may be the last generation which has be the possibility to rebel.
And if you don't rebel there may be no more chances.
Humanity can be reduced to a robot like existence.

Alien Left Hand -- What the critics say:
“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew
"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine
"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun." -- Diva Magazine
