Qdoba- a food review
Current mood:
contentSo I remembered today as I was deciding on where to eat that I had a coupon for Qdoba, the new "mexican grill" or whatever the hell it's called in Florence. This was not my first choice. My first choice was the new Indian restaurant, but as with all Indian restaurants, I never go to lunch at the right time. My ideal lunch time is between 2 and 3 on weekends, giving me plenty of time to sleep in and then veg in my apt all morning. Unfortunately all Indian restaurants close from like 2-5 for the switch from lunch to dinner. I thought it was just the ones I had been to but evidently it is ALL of them. But I am not wanting to kvetch about Indian restaurants and our irreconciliable differences about the idea of the right time for lunch. This is about Qdoba, which conveniently is in the same plaza so no having to deal with Florence's crazy light system.
So I walk in and I am having deja vu...is this Chipotle but smaller? It looked like a chipotle but wasn't laid out as well. I also couldn't judge from the flavor of the burrito if it was just bland or what. It just didn't seem to have that Chipotle ooomph. Plus there were no cute Latino guys working behind the counter, strike two. The staff was very friendly though and one of the counter people even stopped by to see that everything was satisfactory. I may have to give this place another try since it is right next door to cold stone. If only I could get Colin to eat a burrito.

American Psycho
Current mood:
amusedSo I was at Best Buy tonight wandering the aisles, lusting after yet not buying any new technology. Looking at games, movies, music to make my life more pleasurable and less drab and when I stumbled across a sale rack selling American Psycho for 5.99. A MUST purchase. I can't believe I didn't own this movie already. I forgot how hilariously funny it is, with Christian Bale's over the top acting. Especially the scene with the business cards. Fucking hilarious. Bret Easton Ellis novels are the reason I never wanted to be rich. Patrick Bateman is the greedy global corporation incarnate. I use this movie as a litmus test, dropping it casually into conversation to check for appropriate reaction. After watching this, one can almost forgive Guinevere Turner for the awfulness of Go Fish! (Hey, it was that period of time when it was edgy to make a gay {as in homosexual} talking head movie, even if no one in it could act. That just made it edgier.) And the music....oooh la la. Classic New Order makes for classic film.

Two months to SF
Current mood:
So the die is cast, the reservations are made. I am going to SF in April and I can't wait. I keep looking at pics of the hotel and maps of where it is located and I can barely bring myself to touch the guide book because I will become too excited. I feel like a kid at Christmas. I am looking forward to seeing SFMOMA again, and Union Square, walking across the Golden Gate. Hopefully Colin and I don't kill eachother. I am sure we will fight at some point when we are both tired and irritable.

What, Staples doesn't pay well? You are kidding me!! Ha ha ha ha .......Hang in there Kevin, in the long run it will all be worth it :) :)
