The circus is synonymous with Mikey’s life. Born and bred in a circus based just outside Krakow twenty plus years ago Mikey grew up amidst tamed lions, bearded ladies and other such trappings of a travelling company. .. .. Starting music at a young age he played with the circus band as they travelled across Europe. That is until, after a stopover in Sweden, Mikey’s parents decided that they were done with travelling, instead envisaging a more stable upbringing in a little house outside Västerås. Here Mikey went to school, dated girls and did what most teenagers do but it was still only music that made him feel alive. He would stay up all night listening to classic bands like The Beatles, tutoring himself in the art of writing three minute songs. He joined various bands, as the singer and guitarist and headed back out on the road... .. .. Yet still something was missing until little over a year ago he met Andy Linde. The last piece of the puzzle had fallen into place. Musically Mikey could now go back to his roots; he wanted people to know about the circus that had had a huge impact on his life. He wanted to write three minute pop songs with loads of melodies and harmonies, some related to his childhood the others simply about love and life. Co producer and co writer Andy Linde saw his vision and the start of the “Enormous shows combined” unfolded. As the writing kicked off Henrik Boman (bass), Jonas Linde (Philacordia), Erik Westerberg (guitar) and Kristofer Löfgren (guitar) joined the band, with Andy, as the gypsys. .. .... One Year on and the album is finally here, the band striving to take pop back to what it’s all about - melodies and love. It’s a journey through life as well as a journey within... .. ‘Mikey and the gypsys’ are now taking the caravan out on the road to show people how it’s done. Whether we are successful or not?
