Bio
I started teaching myself cello at 15, I was playing drums before that. I also started clavichord lessons with Joan Benson at Stanford at that time. Eventually went to the San Francisco Conservatory and got a Masters in Composition. I don't favor classical over folk or folk over pop - I like it all - it all is jammed into my head and life. Currently I am touring with Anoushka Shankar as cellist, playing cello with Shelley Phillips, and Jesse Autumn -- sitting in with other groups -- composing for flute and string orchestra -- arranging strings for some pop stuff -- and figuring out how to play my 16 string (5 playing/11 sympathetic) string cello ------ the "variety pack" life.
