When I am Old

When I am old …
I will always wear a fruit hat in her memory
I will keep a stuffed crow in a cage
I will look out of the window and see nothing
I will dream without realizing that I'm sleeping

When I am old …
I will write with my finger on the dusty furniture
I will tell interesting lies about when I was young
I will forget to eat, and have plants everywhere
I will listen for death's footsteps without fear

When I am old …
I will have many clocks all with different times
I will mumble when I think, and fart in public
I will have outlived those doctors who told me to stop drinking
I will look back on my life and be satisfied, just for finishing.
