I'm just getting this site started... still lots to do! Basically I want to raise awareness and remind people that every year over 30 million animals are raised in captivity and murdered for their fur. This does not include the tens of thousands of animals that are caught in the wild using a leg crushing trap... which leaves the animal alive to suffer for days before the hunter comes back to murder the animal. It has been reported that in some cases the animal will chew off his or her limb in a desperate attempt to flee. This is grotesque!! It is mind boggling that the fur industry still thrives. Monthly protests will be held to remind people that fur is unfair- fur is dead- and fur is cruel!
Hey, thanks for the add. Yeah, I'm never really on here; go ahead and look for me on Facebook. Maybe I'll run into you at this month's Mass. Peace, Tim Avery <><
Hello, thank you for sending us a request. We greatly appreciate your support for animal rights. This profile has been setup to help educate people on what animal cruelty is and what counts as animal cruelty. Sadly, many people do not truly understand the facts about animal cruelty and are unable to recognize when an animal is being abused and therefore, the crime goes unreported. We are hoping to change that. We post bulletins with information about animal cruelty and ways people can help prevent it. Some of the information we show does contain graphic material and we do apologize for that at this moment. It is not our intention to offend or frighten anyone, only to show why animal cruelty must be stopped before it is too late and another innocent life is lost. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. Thank you again for supporting animal rights.
An excerpt about Henri Projansky, founder of the current Held-Projansky Furs on Monroe Ave. , from Smugtown U.S.A. , 1957, by Curt Gerling, pages 109, 110:
"Henri Projansky is a multi-millionaire and he did it the hard way. Although he is now a couturier with a lavish fur salon on East Ave. he started his ascent as an obscure neighborhood tailor with his wife's dowry - a princely seven bucks.
"In those days he was just Henry Projansky with a Russian accent thicker than a twelve dollar steak. The latinized 'Henri' came with the third million and his move to first, outer East Ave. and later downtown East Ave.
"Henri charmed the East Ave. matrons with fluttering attentions, high prices and high styles. He did well by the 'carriage trade' and they by him. He and his wife, Bessie, lived frugally for years. Money saved was sagaciously invested in A-1 real estate, second mortgages at a high discount, and 'good buys' on furs and materials when they found a resource that needed cash.
"Projansky now finds himself encumbered with choice real estate (all free and clear) the best in stocks and bonds, and 'the' exclusive fur and fashion salon in Rochester. In the past few years his mink sales in all hues has been in the millions of dollars, - 'all customized' from pelt to patron. Lady's suits priced up to two or three hundred are quoted without anyone laughing right out loud.
"Henri epitomizes the 'Bound to Rise' theme popularized by Horatio Alger and over the years much of the conservatism of his wealthy clientele has brushed off on him. As he has grown in conservatism, he has also grown in stature. With infinitely more money than most of his patrons, he has apparently felt that it's time he interested himself in civic and philanthropic movements and a 'new' Projansky has begun to emerge.
I wished I could have been there with ya! I hope that it went well. You take the north side of the country and I'll take the south and we'll meet in the middle with leaflets in hand! :o)
