Born and raised amongst the colorful backdrops and even more colorful characters that comprise the historic Georgetown section of Washington, DC, a young Ms. Dandridge had no shortage of inspiration when it came to recognizing her life path. Taking photographs since she was a child, her first camera, a charcoal gray point-and-shoot Konica 35mm, soon led her to high school photography classes, which in turn led to the position of cinematographer on a variety of short films while studying at St. John’s University in New York. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts (Film & TV), she went on to direct, shoot, and edit two short films, both of which were accepted into three North American film festivals. After working for various production companies in New York City and DC, Janet moved in 2004 to her current home of Los Angeles to pursue Film and TV production as a full-time career, gaining valuable experience through stints as 2nd Assistant Director, Production Coordinator, and Director’s Assistant. Despite having those coveted film and television jobs, still photography was and still is her passion and primary focus, adept with abstracts, fine art, portraits, headshots, fashion and landscapes.
To date, Janet’s photography has been exhibited in galleries throughout Los Angeles and used as key art in feature and independent films. She has photographed notable musicians R&B group O.N.E., the Vinyl Junkie Clique, Malkovich, ABCDEFG, Fahrenheit, Sum Majere, Belief, and Director Little X. She is also a photojournalist, having shot communities and events in Spain and North Africa as well as many points across the U.S.
Vibrant colors and a strong current of spirituality are trademarks of Janet’s work, through which she aims, in her own words, to “promote the positive evolution of the mind and spirit.”

Fun Note: In late 2007, Janet made her acting debut as Queenie Toyota in the comedic short film, "The Bohemian." Being an artist leads an individual to many places, and Janet is enjoying the journey.
